Starts with "C": "Caught" starts with "C". Here she was 'Caught in the act.' Always she's liked travel, probably more than the average U.S. person who has traveled.
My Mustang in the garage is a 1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible. Next year it will be 25 years old and will qualify as either a classic or antique car. I'll probably choose the Classic Car Category as that sounds more like I can use it more now and then.

A Favorite: Cheese and it too starts with "C". Our younger daughter and granddaughter were in Florida for a week, so we were the beneficiaries of her refrigerator goodies about to outlive their "use by dates."
She told us how to make a variation of the Croque-Monsieur (a French dish--the pictured one has cheese and ham which I usually have). She used her broiler to toast and oven to heat. The cheese, Monichevre Bucheron, would be heated until it bubbled. The smaller piece used cheddar cheese as I used all the good stuff on the other two.
I like cooking shortcuts, I call that "bachelorizing the recipe," in other words my "Quick and Easy" way (link). So I toasted the bread in the toaster and did the heating in the microwave until the cheese bubbled.
The lettuce salad was supposed to have special dressing, one she makes. But we forgot to take that home so we used store bought, I used Blue Cheese Dressing.

Clouds and shadows this morning here at my house
Clouds over my house this morning, what's in the garage?
Tom's choice, "Cloud": The Clouds here go north for rain up in the Midwest.
We are in drought status and we've been hovering mostly just above 100F.
It's generally hot even in the mornings but today I caught a cool breeze standing under the tree taking Cloud pictures.
My Mustang in the garage is a 1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible. Next year it will be 25 years old and will qualify as either a classic or antique car. I'll probably choose the Classic Car Category as that sounds more like I can use it more now and then. I don't think that I can use my Ham Radio license registration as an antique or a classic. It has 113K miles, I bought it as a retirement gift to me with 49K back in 2001.
Her annual performance is due soon.
She isn't very worried about it.

Strange Name — MidWeek Blues — Guess what they do?

There won't be any church services here but there may be plenty of wailing and sorrow.
Sorrow will be for our neighbor's pocket book as measured in $$$$Dollars. This truck, from the Church Services company is a part of a foundation repair job on their home. They have been here all last week and aren't finished yet.
To your left in the front yard is a huge pile of dirt. I told Mrs. Jim they must be putting in a basement as there has been so much dirt taken from under the house. I've never seen such a mess. I doubt I would use the Church Services to repair my foundation.

Where has Jim Been — MidWeek Blues — A Quiz (another)

These have been on my blog several times. The Runza is considered by many, the Jim's included, to be the National Food of Nebraska.
I had my first Runza in Lincoln, Nebraska. The owner of the original Runza Hut started all this in a little restaurant in a former home out by Antelope Park. You could walk up to the window and order. Either to go or to take to a picnic bench under the trees and awnings to eat on premise. He did have a couple of tables inside for rainy days.
Actually, we ate these Runzas in Iowa while at my sister, Lois' home. But we did buy them in Nebraska.

Other exciting things happened in Nebraska.
At the old City Cafe in Tekamah, now TailGaitors, we had our noon meal. I had a TailGator Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. It was better than the last one I had their under previous owners. Theirs came out of a plastic bag frozen from the restaurant supply company. That one really needed two bags dumped into the bun. This one was on the skimpy side but the taste was delicious.
Another item of amusement was in watching the shredder people come to a local nursing home and shred two baskets of paper. I was interested in how the control panel worked. It was complete with a TV monitor showing the shredding operation inside and operated by an internal computer. It even had a remote starter for the truck engine.

Invited or uninvited guest? — MidWeek Blues — As seen on TV
This fellow showed up right in the middle of our living room! What do you think?
It really isn't all that bad. Mrs. Jim borrowed him to see if he could help her back which has been hurting her lately. His name is Back2Life per the instruction sheet that comes with him. You can read all about him at his Web site, www.GetBack2Life.com.

Not my favorite vehicles — MidWeek Blues
My favorite cars are generally Fords (I have three, a 1960 Tudor Deluxe, a 1974 Mustang II Ghia, and a 1998 Mustang GT Convertible) although our family car is a General Motors. And they have been since 1990.

My twin sons had Chevy Cameros while they were in high school. Their first car was a shared 1962 VW Bug with a nice fold up sun roof. It was a nice car that was my only car while I was single. Unfortunately the engine blew.
They both had good jobs with an ice cream store making them able to finance and make payments on the Cameros. Mitch had a gold 1969 Z-28 similar to the one on my calendar. Mike's was a 1968 RS painted like this one. They were both good cars and so they kept until their college years.
I do like my NAPA Calendars. I have most of them dating back to the 1970's. NAPA is a good auto parts store here in Texas. They are nation wide, you may have one in your town.
Our NAPA is better than most auto parts stores as they have a machine shop to rebore engine blocks and bearing ports as well as plane heads and grind crankshafts. They will even pull gears off your shaft if you don't have a puller.
This four wheeler belongs to our friend Don who keeps it at his ranch. Mrs. Jim's Sunday school class had a very enjoyable picnic there a couple of weeks ago.
I have never ridden a four-wheeler but I did ride a three wheeler. They are a lot of fun but living here we would have to trailer it out of the subdivsion to find a place to ride. Deed restriction prohibit their use here were we live.

The Jim Bunch eats again — Six Word Saturday — Just Jim this time
My favorite grocery store is H.E.B.
[large picture] [extra large]I like the H.E.B. stores (link) because of their Cooking Connections. Here they actually cook sample items of food to give away as a promotion. There is always a sale price involved or a buy one get one free give away offer.
The lady who runs this Cooking Connection in the Conroe, Texas, store is dressed in a cute red uniform. I wished you could see her but she was bending down behind the counter to pick up some more materials.
All over the store there are other food samples. My favorite is the white cheddar cheese.
[large picture] [extra large]This day she was making gumbo. I like all kinds of gumbo, my friend Lynn made me some for when I came home from having my latest stent put in (pictured in this link). There was a little bit of rice in the bottom of the bowl before she dumped the gumbo in as was Lynn's.
This gumbo was seafood, you can see one of the shrimp. I had already eaten another and there were more in my bowl.
The sweet potato dish was excellent. It was a warm as was the gumbo. The lemon whipped desert was cool. It too was excellent. But the gumbo was the best.

After I had finished eating my gumbo, sweet potato dish, and the lemon desert, the cooking lady had a surprise for me. She asked if I liked cooked cabbage.
Wow! Next to pumpkin pie cooked cabbage is my favorite vegetable. So I said yes.
She opened a warming drawer which had a skillet full of cooked cabbage. It was smothered with other goodies that I have forgotten. But you can see them in the picture. This was also an excellent dish.
Another nice thing about the H.E.B. Cooking Connections, they are in H.E.B. stores all over the Houston area, is that they have the recipes for you to take home. You don't have to buy any of their special, the recipes are free.
It was a big temptation to buy a quart of the prepared gumbo, all was needed was some seafood or chicken and sausage, and probably a little more seasoning. Or whatever a person likes in his or her gumbo.
I would recommend the H.E.B. Grocery Store anytime you can find one. While you are there check out the Cooking Connection. I am betting that you won't be dissapointed.

The Jim Bunch Eats -- Ruby (Red) Tuesday -- at a zero-star restaurant
The RED LETTERS on that sign say "DOWN HOME COOKING."
The Jim Bunch went to eat in their old cars again last Thursday. We went to this little restaurant on US Hwy 190 out east of Huntsville, Texas, about eight miles.
You have to remember we are a Texas Bunch when you look at the pictures. Dress was "every day go to town" clothes.
The food was supposed to be good and people came all the way out from Huntsville to eat lunch. The place was crowded, but about a third were from our club. We had four of these long tables.
I said 'supposed to be good,' I really don't like brown gravy on my ribs. I am not sure they were even ribs as there weren't any rib bones. I had ribs with gravy (couldn't get them any other way), green beans, and cooked (still a little on the raw side) squash. And a piece of cornbread and a VERY SMALL side dish of raspberry cobbler for desert.
It wasn't the food that got the zero-star rating. The food was about a one and a half-star. It didn't make me sick but sure did fill me up, too full.
This was a (RED) sign to come. It says "Restrooms are out of order." Yet they were open and ready for use. There weren't any towels or T.P. I missed the sign and the tools and napkins to take in with me. I always wash, then when no towels I dry my hands on my jeans.
Uugh!
For sure a zero-star rating, nothing worked!
Some more of the Jim Bunch. Mrs. Jim couldn't come, she had a Canasta with the ladies thing on her schedule.
On the right are a few of the old Fords. More were on the side of the gravel parking lot. I took my '98 Mustang Convertible. I had the top down until after lunch. It got hot outside while we were inside.

The Jim Bunch Eats -- Ruby (Red) Tuesday -- at a 2-star restaurant
This group is a part of Mrs. Jim's Sunday school class eating at one of our local Mexican restaurants. The food is excellent, Mrs. Jim and I shared the Sunday special green enchilada dinner.
I rated the place a two-star out of a possible five stars. My reasoning is below.
Two stars are right here, one in each picture. The next two didn't fare so well, did they? Scroll down again and I'll tell you why if you can't guess from the photos.
These two are evidence of a less than five star restaurant.
I judge restaurants by the quality of the rest rooms. This one was only a two.
They will get two stars, one each for the towel dispenser and another for the soap dispenser. No stars are coming for the water basin or for the toilet.
Both the towel and the soap dispenser are 'no hands' operation machines. We have to put our hands on the water faucet and on the toilet flushing lever. Stars go to the automatics, no stars for the manual.
Don't you really love it when you don't have to touch anything but yourself in a public restroom? You too can give the stars earned according to Jim's star award formula.
Did anyone guess how to get five stars? I have the answer posted in the comment section. Not many make that big five.

My next movie to see

Well, I know Sean Penn and Jim Carey but I don't know Benicio del Toro (middle guy). That probably shows how much I see the movies too.
They are slated to play Larry, Curly, and Moe (the guy in the middle again??). Benicio isn't signed on the dotted line yet.
Here, with the Stooges, I don't know any of these guys as I never watched TV or went to the movies when I was growing up. At first it wasn't invented and then we didn't get it, and we couldn't afford to go to the movies. Ben Hur was my first, I went with my parents.
Mrs. Jim could drag me to something else before it comes out, which is slated for some time in 2010. I think I want to see Barcelona before we go there this April. We will have to rent that. Red Hut, here we come (maybe)!

By the way, did you see the tent city of homeless in Sacramento, California, on the NBC Early Show this morning? That's something that Bankers and us Republicans don't watch. Instead, they want to move those people along. Away from their property and banks. And watch Fox News all day long.
I am the exception, I will not watch Fox News. I can't stand the nastiness in their voice inflections and attitudes. And (another exception) occasionally I help feed these people (homeless, not bankers) at our local Salvation Army instead of spending my bonuses.

Ruby (Red) Tuesday -- Valentines Day Gift (way to the heart)

This may have to do for our Valentines Day outings. Of course there will be the usual chocolate and card thing. I'm pretty sure of that.
Not the red car, but the red "G's" is the red in this post.
I could say that Mrs. Jim took me out to eat
at our new Mexican Restaurant.
Tia G's is in Willis, about six miles from our home.
Okay, the "OPEN" sign is red too.
But the food is the way to this man's heart.
I couldn't eat all of mine, here is what is in my 'doggy bag.'
It wasn't the best we have around.
I'd say Taco Bell is a little better

These are all cookie cutters, some on a red peg board.
I liked this old storage cabinet with all it's drawers.
I didn't ask where it came from but
the wording was written in an oriental characters
which I did not understand.
