A Jam — My Alphabe-Thursday -- "J" -- Two Questions -- Things in a Row

.
"J" is for Jam -- like, "hey, I got myself in a little bit of a Jam." (start of a phone conversation)
.
"You see I dropped my iPhone in the changing booth at WalMart and now the cops have got me  for, well I don't really know what for."
.
"Well, did you get arrested?"
"Not exactly but they think that I put a ... ," muffled, "sob, sniff, sob, sniffle ... "
.
"They think I put a camera on the floor to watch the girls change clothes (more sniffles)."
.
"What is going on there now?  When are you coming home?"
.
"They are holding me in the back of a police car."
.
"Are you coming home?"
.
"They are checking the phone to see if there are any pictures that I took tonight."
.
"Can you come home?"
.
"It sounds like it, like they are going to take me home.  But they want then to talk with you, Mom."
.
"Oh."

"Oh."
.
Real life in the day of a Houston Police team.  I first heard it on the TV news and then found it in the Houston Chronicle .

If that link has expired I have the contents recorded here on another blog of mine.
.

"Jam" is also used to spread on bread, pancakes, and biscuits.
Here at our house I found these in the refrigerator and have them lined up into two little rows. The rows are for my Thursday Things in a Row part of this post.
.
In the packets we see the real "Jam" in case you haven't seen any lately. The first is from a breakfast at our new Burger King and is called "Strawberry Jam" and I put it on my biscuit half that I didn't eat with the sausage.
.
Also in that row is a packet from MacDonald's but it is called "Strawberry Preserves." I used it for the same way as the Burger King jam. (Prior post link, scroll down to the MacDonald's sack picture)
.
The next row has a jar of "Bonne Maman Strawberry Preserves" (link). These have become my favorite Strawberry Preserves and are made in the U.S. I was first introduced to them in a small hotel in Paris where they were served for breakfast in a small individual portion-sized jars which were made in France.
.
Next in line is a jar of "Polaner All Fruit with Fiber Raspberry seedless" which you might recall is NOT Jelly in the 'pass the jelly' commercial (link).
.
Lastly is a jar of Fig Preserves that Mrs. Jim made.  We eat this mostly with our morning biscuits which Mrs. Jim also makes, from scratch.
.

And now for my Thursday Two Questions: (See Thursday Two Questions by Self Sagacity for more reading. You could also make your own by checking in at this link.)
...
Last week 's post and questions were about Wild Flowers, Blue, and/or Outside Activities.
.
My Two Questions for this week (you can answer just one if you wish):
.

1. What is you favorite "Jam" used to spread onto bread, etc?

Actually most anything that Mrs. Jim makes is tons better than store bought.
2. Any "Jam" that you got into where you had to call Mom?
.
I have lived a charmed life and have escaped that hard of a punishment for my baddies.
Bonus Question: What should my bonus question have been today?

Letter "J" -- Weekend Roundup

THE TENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES) - the Letter "J" Prompts are: (A) Starts with the Letter "J"; (B) "Jam" (Tom's Choice); (C) A Favorite; (D) A Lagniappe.

 _ _ _ _

[A cute Thank You card]

(A) Starts with the Letter "J":   Just starts with "J".  Just is an overworked little four letter adverb telling when or how, often meaning recently or exactly.  Like just in time or just what I needed.
Also as an adjective meaning fair, as the judge delivered a just opinion

I found these cute kittens on the Thank You card saying "Just wanted to thank you."  The card was in our World Market here in Katy on Fry Road near Hwy 99 yesterday afternoon.  I found some more photo op items also.

[Courtesy of Houston NBC TV station K P R C  Ch 2]

Just fine, our Houston area weather for next week.  Like we had it before the snow and power problems.

(B) "Jam" (Tom's Choice);   Lots of imported Jam over in the food section of our World Market.

.
[click on picture two times for extra large size]
(C) A Favorite:   I like Peach Apricot Jam, these are from Scotland.  But I like Seedless Blackberry better, it is one of my Favorites.  Blueberry also but I'm not sure with the pomegranate as I've never tasted pomegranate.

(D.1) A Lagniappe:   Jelly Beans should have to fit in here but we will have to make do with Jelly Bellies because I couldn't find any Jelly Beans at the World Market.

[Photo tribute to ABC News Network]
(D.2) Another Lagniappe:   This "J" Word is Jump.  With the technology at this moment we might could take a spaceship to the Moon or to Mars.  But on the return when your spaceship first hits the ground you'd best Jump out real fast!!  Really fast!!!  The only three spacecraft tried out so far have burst into flames and lifted again from the launching/landing pad in a ball of fire

Come on Baby, Light my Fire

Written and sung by Rock Singer, Jim Morrison.  Born in the U.S.A, Jim died young at age 27 and is buried in the Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. (Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Morrison )
  _ _ _ _

Bonus Questions:

(1)  Tell about your craving for Jam and if there is some experience you'd like to share that would be just fine. We I am fickle to my Favorite, Seedless Blackberry, that I stated above.  I equally like Home Made Fig Preserves.

A story about those .  We had a friend who lived in Galveston and whom we helped when we could.  I will call her Flo.  Flo liked Ms. Jim's homemade fig preserves and always asked us to bring some.  If we were eating then with her we would watch as she ate about half a jar and all the fig pieces in the jar.  She also would do that at our house with our fig preserves.  Flo died the same year that my dad and Mrs. Jim's mom died, she was fairly old.

(2) What is your favorite Word starting with  "J"?   Mine today will be "Jim, James, Jimmy, Jimmie".   Because that is my name.  My Birth Certificate says James Vernon, my Dad's name was Charles Vernon.  But they called him Jim when around, or Vernon when it was more formal.  He liked C. Vernon.  Anyway, so I became 'Little Jim' to those around me.  I'm not that anymore though, Dad died in 2007 at age 97.  And I had several nicknames, none of which stuck into adulthood.  Oh yes, Grandpa H was Charles or Charley."

(3) Anything else you were reminded of here that you  would like to tell about?

[Intro]

[Verse 1]
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher

[Chorus]
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire

[Verse 2]
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre

[Chorus]
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
Yeah...

[Verse 2]
The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre

[Chorus]
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
Yeah

[Verse 1]
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl, we couldn't get much higher

[Chorus]
Come on baby, light my fire
Come on baby, light my fire

Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire

The Letter "J" ~~ Rev 04 - Weekend Roundup and Reflections

The 36th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year... (THE TENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "J" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "J";  (B) A Favorite;
(C) "J" for "Junk". (Tom's choice);  and (D) Reflections.

(A) Starts with the Letter "J":  Jackfruit starts with "J", per a Quara . Com search, Photo from https://www.quora.com/What-are-some-fruits-that-begin-with-the-letter-J.  Read more of the Jackfruit in Wikipedia, here.  I think I do not need to try Jackfruit , for sure not a Jackfruit Pie.

(B) A Favorite:   Jars and Jars of Jelly and Jam.  I'm not sure where I took this, very likely at my cousins home in Arkansas.  I did also see a few Jars of fruit or/and vegetables. My favorite Jam is Fig Preserves, home madeLemon Curd isn't Jam, is it?   I like that just about as well.

(C) "J" for "Junk". (Tom's choice):  This is out youngest granddaughter,  KP.  She has grown a lot, this picture WAS taken TWO YEARS AGO at my cousin's home in Arkansas.   We were visiting cousins  and soon we be on our way to Nebraska to visit even more cousins.

I am sure that my cousin would not want to call her husband's gas pump Junk. And it isn't but I think there may have been Collector's Junk. Under that porch is an ideal place to store Outdoor Junk.

(D) Reflections:   This was taken looking in the window at the Plank Restaurant in Omaha, Nebraska.   It was a fine place to eat casually.  You can get a feel for the lay of the land across the street.   We spent an afternoon at this nice tourist friendly area of the old down town.

(E) A Lagniappe for you (Just for those who like Sunsets):  This is a unique Sunset we found while driving through Missouri on our way to Nebraska.

I have more Midwest photos to show some other times.

 _ _ _
My Two

Questions for this week (you can answer just one if you wish):

1. My Reflection pictures - When you look into the windows at places new to you, what do like to see?  I like to see things that I would or would not go into the store to have a look-see.

2. Do you have some Collector Junk that you would like to tell about? I have junk of all kinds.  Mrs. Jim likes to talk about it with me, like "why don't you get rid of this as you never seem to use it."

Bonus Questions:
1. What is your favorite "J" word?

2. Do you or your other ever make homemade Jam?  What kind do you like to make the best?  No, I don't make Jam myself but once in a while Mrs. does make it.  We have a friend who used to give us Figs for the picking up.

Letter "J" -- Friday's Weekend Roundup 12 and Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures

This Week's Prompts: Starts with "J." A Favorite.
For Tom, "J"am".
For James, Reflections andor Street/Candid Captures.
_ _ _ _
.

Starts with "J"Jeep starts with "J".  I found my favorite in Key West, Florida.  I think its looks make the vehicle.  This one was also in my "Jeep post" of 2017 found here

A Favorite:  I found this one Thursday parked in front of Wendy's.  I call it a Ford Jeep although Ford wouldn't like to hear me call it like that.  It is in a fairly new line of Ford's called "Bronco".  Probably  the Jeep folk wouldn't either.
(Note:  Some will remember that I worked for Ford, Ford Aerospace as an Aerospace Engineer at New Hampshire and NASA Houston for 19 years.  And now I get a tiny retirement check(in 1980 $Dollars,  no COLA) from that every month.  So I'm a little partial to them.)

For Tom, "Jam":   As you might surmise, Strawberry Jam is a favorite at our house.   Immediately above is Mrs. Jim's Favorite, her blood relatives came directly from France, the other half from the British Isles.

I like Aldi's Jam better although as you see here, I do fortify its taste by adding some of Burger King or McDonald's Jam to help the strawberry effect come out.

 Posted by Picasa
For James, Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures:  I found my Dream Spot, to live [under that thick clump of tall trees] and it was for sale back  in 2007 when I took this picture.  It might have been in Louisiana but I cannot remember for sure.

A Lagniappe:  My son has a Jeep, I have not seen it for a long time.  Must call him very soon to talk cars.  The last time I saw it I think it was looking about like this.  It is a 1970's issue to the best of my recollection.

Weekend Roundup -- 10-18 (for letter "J")

The 10th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
The week's prompts:
(1)  Starts with "J";  (2)  A Favorite; and (3) Joy; and (4) Lagniappe.

(1)  Starts with "J": Jam starts with "J". This Jam is special, kind of.  Our neighbor gave it to Mrs. Jim a few weeks age, it is really good.  The family is Canadian and they make it in the man's hometown.  There they grow the Saskatoon Berries and specialize in making Jam

Juice also starts with "J".  Here is the Juice Bar at our cabin in the woods.  You can read more in my Favorites below.  Hint:  we camped out, but not very rough camping.

(2)  A FavoriteJuicy Fried Catfish is one of my favorites.  From the Old Hickory Café in Farmerville, Louisiana (north central La.), here is the $7.99 plate, well, part of it.  I had eaten some of my half.   There were five pieces of catfish, Fries, baked beans, hush puppies, and cold slaw.  Mrs. Jim and I shared and then we also shared her Juicy cheeseburger.
 [click pictures for larger viewing]
(3) Joy:  Was staying in a cabin in the woods in North Louisiana.  We spent four nights at this cabin on Lake D'Arbonne, Louisiana (link).

It was a part of the Lake D'Arbonne State Park.  We've stayed there before and even had a few of Mrs. Jim's family reunion there.

This time there were six of us, Mrs. Jim and Sister and Brother and their spouses and us.

Most meals we cooked there in the cabin.  The ladies had prepared the menus before we came and all brought groceries accordingly.

(4) LagniappeJeep and it's logo are our car extra for the week.

I found this Green Jeep in Key West, Florida.   We would walk from our hotel to the hot spots down town.  Just about every day we would walk by this pretty one.
In 1945 one of our neighbors bought one of the first Jeep sold to civilians.  It was also green but not this pretty.  Since then I always wanted a Jeep but never did get one.

Probably some time I will get a 1:16 cast iron Army Jeep for my car collection.  Did you know that both Ford and Willys both made Jeeps during WWII?

The closest I had was a Red Jeep to drive for almost a week.  We and the some of the Youth from our church were on a mission trip to Florida.  There we held a six day Bible Camp at Mona Kia State Park on the Big Island, staying in the cabins there.

Before we started the mission we stayed in Honolulu for a few days and then on Maui for another week.  There we rented four Red Jeeps and I was the driver for one.  We went all over the Island, even visiting the Lindbergh Family ranch.

p.s.  My son, Mike has a Red Jeep, has had it for years.
