Up a _______ ? — Six Word Saturday —

.
My six words:

Tree top resting in our yard

To the right you can see this little bird with the highest perch it could find. It is up at the top of the water oak tree in our front yard. This tree has acorns which drop in the late fall. (Water oak link) (Water oak pictures link)

Then for winter it keeps its leaves; meaning it stays green all year long. When spring comes it sheds the old leaves and refreshes with new shiny green ones. We mulch the old leaves with the lawn mower when we mow the grass.

Below on the left is a 'zoomed-in' view of the same picture. Click on these picture for a bit larger size.

The other picture has a wood pecker. It is a sycamore tree in the back yard. Rather, it is in the neighbor's yard but almost on the property line. It has shed its leave and bark for winter.

Do you see the wood pecker. It is approximately in the center of the picture, towards the top of the left upright branch, just before it juts to the right a bit.

The woodpecker does not have a red head. What does this mean?

Describe your life (or something) in a phrase using just six words for Six Word Saturday. Click the box at right to visit Cate's blog with Mr. Linky showing all the other blogs participating this week. Cate is the boss at Six Word Saturday. She would like for you to participate.

Thursday Memes -- Things in a row -- Two Questions

.

Our granddaughter, KP, getting her ducks in order

The treasure chest is banded in good order but I think she gave up on getting the rocks any better.

This morning our daughter, Karen, was telling of her and our granddaughter's visit to Kensington Gardens where they enjoyed the
Princess Diana Playground.

I think she next will try getting some of the 'tracks in the sand' in order.

I stole these picture from my daughter's blog,
Karen on the Run. For the 'tracks in the sand' I'd suggest that visit her blog and see it and more for yourself.

For more things in a row please visit Pat's Things in a Row post.

And now for my Thursday Two Questions: (see
Thursday Two Questions for more)

1. Do you like pie and why or why not?

2. If you like pie, what is your favorite?

Bonus Question: What are your pets' names?

Answer:

It's the inside of a messy recycle barrel. Someone had dumped a chocolate sundae inside. It had melted and hardened.

The recycle people threw the plastic dish, not visible, back inside. The vanilla ice cream had run all over the bottom and then hardened.

Remedy? I guess put a big sign on it saying "recycle bin only" to keep nasty things like this out.

One thing for sure, it is clean now! I scrubbed and scrubbed with these tools. Sorry that the barrel isn't so very blue.

Sara sat dreamily on the bench at her stop.

Ride up to see her fellow? Boule with the gang? Could read?

Antibes in winter isn't like Iowa.

Notes:
1. Antibes is about 20 km, or a 24 minutes drive, down the coast from Nice, France. It is a very pleasant and fun place. Mrs. Jim and I spent a night there in the mid-1990's. (link 1, Google map)(link 2, Google ideas)(link 3, Wikipedia)
2. Boule is a game played with the idea of getting your large heavy metal balls as close to the 'jack' as possible and keeping your oponnent's as far away as you can knock them. (Wikipedia article) We try to play every time we go to France. Our introduction was in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France, 2006, watching a group of older men playing Boule.
