Jim's Friday — Six Word Saturday — Pumping gas blues

Bad day at the gas pump

I had three problems there today, not counting that it was Mrs. Jim's car that needed gas. Seems like it does that a lot these days. I'll tell them in order of ...

Problem # 1: At first I couldn't get the filler cap off. It turned to the stop but wasn't at all loose or ready to lift out. Pretty scary, low on gas and can't get more in. I gave the cap a hard CCW twist and it turned a half or so turn more. Viola! Loose and ready to lift out.

Problem # 2: Someone has hacked into our Kroger Rewards account. If you are that person please don't do it any more. Fessing up would be better still. Then I could tell who in particular besides the whole dirty crooked world I should be upset at.

For every $100 we spend at the grocery store we get a ten cent (10) a gallon reduction. Last week we lost 100 points, now another 100 was missing so I had to settle for the regular three cent discount.

Problem # 3: Kroger gas was cheaper than most places ($2.49/gal minus my discount) so there were lines at every pump. I went to the shortest one with only two cars ahead of me. The first car pulled out and we pulled up. While I waited I listened to my 'book on tape CD.'

The next think I knew someone was beating on my windshield. Seems I had gone to sleep while the CD player was reading to me. The car ahead was gone and the lady at the pump next graciously woke me up.

I felt pretty stupid. The fellow on the other side of my pump said that was alright, he goes to sleep in the line at the drive-thru-window at the bank. He said he was trucker. He drives his 18-wheeler on runs to and from Houston and Dallas.

What's over your bed? — MidWeek Blues — Not a ceiling fan I hope

[large picture] [extra large]

I have a ceiling fan over my bed of which I am scared almost to death (blue) if it ever runs when I'm in bed. The little bear is reminding me to not turn on the fan.

What if the fan were to fall on me?

Not is not an uncommon worry. And more men worry about that than do women. Of course women have less sense for danger than men. As a general rule.

"Ceiling fans are a terrific way to keep rooms cool without air conditioning. ... But for safety reasons, you should not hang a fan directly over a bed. ..." (link 1) (link 2)

Cefalù, Sicily -- Ruby (Red) Tuesday --

Are all the Casa Cantoniera places in Italy red?
(Wikimdia link and more)

[You can click on any picture to make it larger.]

This one is on the highway almost to Cefalù, Sicily (link), coming from Palermo. Cefalu is a small coastal town about five miles north of Palermo. We spent the morning with a walking tour and finished the morning by walking around town on our own Some ate, Mrs. Jim and I walked.

Our 2006 tour was with Grand Circle Travel. We went in reverse of this one. It was one of the nicest holidays that we have been on. After these two weeks we spent a week (also GCT) in Sorento visiting the Amalfi Coast and the Isle of Capri. Then we rented a car in Milan and drove to spend a week in Provence, France, and another week in Tuscany, Italy.

Red roofs and awnings.

Mrs. Jim rates in this post. I can't remember how she got tangled up with that fellow(??) on the scooter. I used to have a blue Alstate (Sears Roebuck) Vespa about like his. I rode it to work at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, while I was in the Army there for five years.

Of course not everything in town is red. Some of the buildings here are over 500 years old. Now how do you make these pictures larger?

No we didn't stop at the bar. But it had red in the sign. And a little red was inside the town cathedral, Duomo di Cefalù. That's all the pictures now for this nice little town. Come visit us at my casa and we can look at a lot more.
