A quickie tour of Luckenbach, Texas, in pictures

Adi is packed, that means Mrs. Jim and I are travelling again.

And the contest below is still on, until July 13.

.And this time Adi gets to stay at the Karen and Billy Hotel. Except for one little problem, Adi had it made over there. What's her problem, she even gets her bed brought over for her?

[Picture taken by Karen]
.Amber could be a problem here. Adi has heard of sharing, but this is ridiculous!

[large picture] [super sized]
.That's right, Mrs. Jim and I stopped at Luckenbach, Texas, last night. That is the place Willie Nelson put on the map with his Let’s go to Luckenbach, Texas, song (lyrics link).

They might mail your letter from this Post Office, but they don't get any mail or have mail routes. Mostly is old junk, I don't know if any of it is for sale.

The back porch has this bar. They sell a lot of beer from here. People take it out to the picnic tables to listen to the music or drink their beer at the outside bar under the trees. We were 'just looking' today.

.
First picture is the 'food to go' kitchen. Next is the inside of the men's room. Last on the right is the outside of this building. Mrs. Jim said the women's room had stalls with curtains for doors.

Here the action is starting. We were there from about 6:00 PM to around 7:15 and this fellow was playing and singing on the stage the whole time.

Mrs. Jim was waiting for me to come back from the men's room. The last picture says the singer is taking a break and that 'all that's left is us chickens.' Happy picnicking with your food on those tables. Shoo the chickens off first.

The Jim Bunch Eats! We have a graduation party! A cute little quiz contest?

Flash! Where we will be until Saturday night, click here to see

First the party and eating [click any picture for larger size]

Son, Tim, cooked hamburgers and hot dogs on the outside grill over at his friend's, Terry's, house. Then we had the trimmings and beans and potato salad. Dessert was a nonfat pineapple cream pie and a calorie laden chocolate cake.

We had this family graduation party for Megan and James last Saturday. Megan, Grandchild # 2 (GC#2), and her boyfriend, James, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin on May 16 of this year.

Both of them are staying in Austin for about another month while they finish taking their CPA exams. Again, being a nerd in college pays, they each graduated with honors!

Their degrees are a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Professional Accounting. We are proud of them. Megan finished all this in five years and never changed her major, even once. [changing your major gives you hours that aren't needed for the latest degree and other classes are needed, all this taking extra time.]

The two part quiz contest, rules first

1. Contest ends July 21, you may change your answer until then. The last answer form turned in counts.

2. Part A. Place a name for each facial shot--35 points

3. Part B. Match the feet with the face--70 points

4. Submit your answers by copying and filling out the form found here. When you are ready, submit your completed form as a comment. Comment modulation allows you to have privacy in your answer sheet.

5. After you turn in your answer sheet, leave a short comment on this blog.

6. The faces can be any of these party attendees: Daughter Susie and hubby, Anthony; son Tim and girlfriend, Terry; granddaughter Megan and friend, James; and Mrs. Jim.

(Not pictured were: son Mitch and wife, Carmen; son Mike and wife, Sharon; granddaughter Jenna and boy friend, Chad; and me, Jim. The couples had to leave earlier, I was taking pictures. Not in attendance were daughter Karen and hubby, Billy, and granddaughter BP.)

7. Family members are not eligible for the 'name the face' portion of the contest.

8. Go to work on it.

Face pictures, Numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 , 6, 7
for Susie, Anthony, Tim, Terry, Megan, James, and Mrs. Jim, not necessarily in that order:

Life on the Italian Riveria

This stretch of the Italian Riviera looks just too nice to be left alone. And it has a view too!

[large picture] [super size]

.

Is there more to this picture that isn't very easily seen here?

[large picture] [super size]

.That is a restaurant up there. We didn't eat stop to eat as we were still thinking morning.

[large picture] [super size]

.Those Italians make good use of most of their pretty places. Next to the restaurant in the pink building is a very up scale living place. We should have checked to see if there were any flats with a view were for sale.

[large picture] [super size]

.As I said, they can just throw up structures on any place you would want. From the old--building, perhaps a formerly a lookout--to these 20th century homes.

Now where do you think they would keep their boats? Surely living on the Mediterranean much of the population would have boats.

[large picture] [super size]

.Sure just ready to go. Is that a Coast Guard boat the crew left while eating at the rock restaurant? Donuts anyone?

.

That just doesn't seem like very many boats for such a large town?

[large picture] [super size]

.Oh, here are the working people's boats. Ready for fishing, swimming, or just an outing. I don't think there will be water skiing.

.

And if you like pink things, go check out this pink car I found (click link).
