Hi Jim—That's rather sad, isn't it, an itinerant grocery bus boy career? Sigh.
But you didn't break the rule I broke. Well done.

So THAT'S what he's carrying. lol

I couldn't tell what he was carrying either. I still can't, but it doesn't matter does it? I didn't think so.

Have a terrific day. :)

He could even be a greeter at WalMart (an unpaid job, though). Congrats for using "myriad." I think he's what was called a "muffin man" in England back in the 1800s. He sold freshly-baked English muffins on the streets, ringing the bell to get people's attention and carrying his cloth-covered muffins on a board balanced on his head.

Years ago people would take any kind of job and work it - not nowadays.

I'm wondering too what was he carrying on his head.

It's not simple to balance the tray on his head, Dr Jim :)

I had a few odd jobs in my youth, but never worked in any grocery store, let alone a travelling one. I did work as a waitress and had to learn to balance trays containing about twenty cups of coffee on each hand, while moving through two sets of swinging doors. You had to be move quickly or the first door would swing back and hit as you went through the second. As you might imagine, we practiced the skill with empty trays, then with nonbreakable cups filled with water before graduating to cups filled with hot coffee.
