Partly because
(I hide from snow)
We had planned to go Friday to Nebraska and Iowa to visit with cousins and my sister. I had the trunk pretty well loaded Thursday night. When we woke up at five yesterday morning I looked at the weather and saw this. Snow and rain storms in Kansas and Oklahoma. Right where we were to drive through.
Also I had a bad headache Thursday morning that lasted into the mid afternoon and was feeling a bit strange still Friday. So we DID NOT GO. We are STILL HOME.
No more headache today and we did not drive through the snow. Our schedule is such though that we won't be able to do this again. We may take a short one-three day break to see the Louisiana cousins and sister. Stretch it another day and could visit the Brother a little farther away.
My headache? I lay it to Fall. We had a very cool morning yesterday, about 56°F. I think that gave me a one-sided headache like an ice cream headache. I hope to be acclimated for the rest of our South Texas fall season, perhaps a mild winter also.

Stay well, Jim! That's the main thing :) The weather can cause migraines and stuff.
I'm with you on the snow issue. The forecast here for next month is dire :(

Pity you could not go but better be on the safe side I guess. And headaches are bad, I often have them at this time of the year as well. Stay well and hope you can relax a bit over the weekend! Curious how your pumpkin turned out ;)
Happy weekend!
Happy weekend!
Yup, it's going to be a mild, maybe cold winter this year, but I think it will be much worse in the north and Midwest. Since they are already getting their first snowfall. I think it is better that you decided to stay home and not drive in the snow. I do like snow, but it's not fun to drive in sometimes, especially in a winter mix, where ice might form. I'm glad your headache went away, I felt like I was starting to get one of those earlier today. I decided that it would be a fun idea to walk in the rain yesterday, but I feel better now. : )
I'm sorry you didn't get to go but I totally understand why you didn't. Driving in snow is bad enough but add a headache to the mix is dangerous. I have been plagued with headaches for years and know just what that weird feeling you had is. Wishing you safe travels wherever you may go!
I think it was wise not to drive through the snow, but a shame you missed the outing planned. I hope the alternative ideas turn out well.
Poor Jim - a double whammy to miss the trip and have a headache as well. I hope we don't get too much snow this year - my family are coming across for New Year, driving the length of England. Yes, I know it's tiny compared with the US, but it experiences every kind of (bad) weather you can think of.
Perhaps the weather gave you a headache. It could happen. You're better off staying home than driving through the snow. Not fun one bit.
Have a fabulous day. :)
