~~ Friday’s Hunt v.4.04 -- "D" is for ...

Friday's Hunt for the week of July 28th:
(1) Starts with D; (2) Favorite; and (3) Photographer’s choice

(1) Starts with "D":  Dinner.  Here we have about half of our Sunday school class for a Saturday night Pot Luke Dinner.  The ribs at the bottom went fast.

Our class has about 140 members, last week we had 85 members and five visitors in attendance.  At least that's those who got counted.  Some may have sneaked in.

(2) Favorite
KP is our youngest grandchild.  She is growing more every day.  Almost to Mrs. Jim's height.

(3) Photographer’s choice:  First two are "Before" pictures.

Next three are "During" pictures

The top two were from Wednesday, the day we had 37 third graders.  Mrs. Jim and I volunteered to work in VBS (Vacation Bible School) this year.  Four mornings.  The bottom picture was yesterday, last day when only 23 showed for our class.

In the bottom picture you are seeing a paper plate percussion section playing their paper plates while the little boom box is playing and Mrs. Nan is directing.

We had 14 sections of third grade children, each class supposedly having 30 kids.  The first day enrollment was 2456 ranging from Kindergarten to 5th grades.  I don't know attendance for the other three days.

Our church is a Mega church, Second Baptist of Houston with Ed Young being our senior pastor.  You may have seen him on TV.  Of the six campuses, we are outside of Houston near Katy Texas.  We became members because our youngest daughter has her family here.  This involved a move when they returned from a five year stint in London, U.K.

There aren't any "After" pictures.
One would have been of two very large trash bins.

It was a good thing that you and Mrs. Jim volunteered to help with Vacation Bible School. It's good to teach the little ones.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ☺

VBS, it is that time of year all over.

This is wonderful for church and it looks like a chirch with the right idea for the people especially these children at this event. Well done both of you for volunteering to help. Have a great weekend.

...Jim, there us something about kids, you keep feeding them and they keep growing!

The buffet looks delicious - fabulous eating for sure! It's wonderful that you volunteer for the vacation bible school - the kids get a dose of spirituality for sure with your care!

The food looks yummy! I cannot imagine a Bible school with that many people. I think a mega church would have me out of sorts with all those people. I grew up in little churches, for the most part, where everybody knew everybody and their grandfolks, too. It looks like y'all had a fun time. I always enjoyed VBS.

Have a blessed week.

Hi Jim - I don't go to church and haven't gone for many, many years, since I am not a believer. I definitely never went to vacation bible school....I did things like horse-riding camp and music camp and craft-oriented camps, but VBS is not common up here in Canada. However, I am a believer in good food, and I'm sure that pot-luck was a great feast! You must have a great deal of patience to deal with that many children - I can't tolerate even being around one at a time! The older I get, the less patience I have for children, which is why I never wanted to have any. I have pets instead and they keep me busy as it is!

You had a great turnout. Food has a way of disappearing at a potluck dinner. What are we going to do about all our grandkids growing up so fast! Don't they just love it when they get taller than a parent or grandparent?

Looks like you had a good turnout for the pot luck. Very nice. KP is a lovely young lady. I think you and Mrs. Jim are quite brave with that many youngsters. Very kind of you to do it. Thanks so much for joining Friday's Hunt. Sorry I'm so late visiting this week.
