Merry Christmas !!! ~~ Friday’s Hunt v.4.25 -- "Y" is for ...

Merry Christmas !!!
Friday's Hunt for the week of December 22nd
1. Starts with Y; 2. tree; and 3. shadows

1. Starts with "Y":  Yellow starts with "Y", it always does.  And generally I choose some of the Yellow cars that I have found during the last six months or more ago.

This time I found a Yellow Crop Dusting Airplane Picture.  It was in a book at our World Market store.  I always wanted to ride with a Crop Duster but never had a real chance.  I suppose if I asked Cliff (Cliff Morrow's Blog--now silent in favor of Facebook) he would arrange that, or perhaps even fly me in his brothers plane.

Cliff's parents and my parents were friends even before ELECTRONICS and SOCIAL MEDIA  were words.  Also, Mrs. Jim flew a similar maneuvering ride in here a Yellow T3 Warbird Trainer plane (picture) over the beach at Galveston (Texas).  She rode with the cockpit open and her job was to deploy the landing gear.  Warbirds for you.

I did find a couple of other Yellow pictures that were in competition for this season of Yellow:

[Train full of fruit at our Sprouts Grocery Store - - - Former 'Family/handicap" RR on Princess ships]

2. Tree: The large trees at the Model Railroad Exhibition at the main campus of our church.  That's the Second Baptist Church of Houston, Woodway Campus.  Ours 34 miles away is the 1463 Campus, located on Texas Hwy 1463 at Katy and Fulshear, Texas.

Note two girls in these pictures, KP is the youngster at the very bottom of the picture on the left.  On the right this girl is hugging one of the Nutcrackers.

3. Shadows: These are NYC traffic shots, getting over to Brooklyn.  We were in a van.  I hadn't noticed the car shadows until I started looking for some today.  Yellow vehicles too.  I'm glad our trees aren't going yellow.

 O
..........Now for more of the LagniappeYellow could also be this corn tortilla taco which uses some of our surplus of frozen clams.  "Y" also for Yummy !!!
....................................................................  4.  4. 4. 4. A bit of Lagniappe: I hope that you like this feature.  Another hint, the running picture concerns my recently married great-granddaughter, who has announced that next year Mrs. Jim and I will become great-great-grandparents

Or "Y" could be for Yummy-not in this not-delicious looking stuff, formally known to the kids as 'slime'. Mrs. Jim and KP made this slime yesterday using the common liquid starch and glue and water (1/2 cup each) and food dye and sparkles recipe.
If you try to make it, add the liquid starch after mixing the water and glue.  And dump into a clean bowl when it's finished.

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.4.24 -- "X" is for ...

Friday's Hunt for the week of December 15th
1. Starts with "X"; 2. craft; and 3. growing

1. Starts with "X": "XTBD", if ever.  It should be "XMAS" but the rest of post isn't very '"X"mas-sy'.

2. Craft:
.
You might think this was in the farm room but these toys were at Dad's nursing home. We had stopped in to tell him goodbye. That was in August, 2006 (link).  Dad died in February, 2007, at age 97.

Aren't those nice trucks? The Red Hat ladies and the Construction Guys (they gave Dad his hard hat)(July 24 posting) made toys for a fundraiser.

The residents helped too. The day before we had watched one of the men residents painting the trucks and the benches. He was doing a good job, I didn't know they would turn out this nice.

3. Growing
To the south of the corn crib was where Mom had her garden.  It was large, about an acre including the potato patch.

Now Grass and Weeds are Growing where the precious garden once was.  I wrote a 'poem' about this in my other blog yesterday.  (You can read it by clicking here. )

4.  A bit of Lagniappe: Still not saying much about this picture.  If I don't get a better "X" word, we will for sure have "X marks the spot." The dart board to which the balloons are attached is also a craft work of sorts.   In the meantime you can be guessing what this picture is all about.

1. Starts with "W": Guess today it has to be "Weather"!!  That's because we had SNOW !!!

2. Dense:  Our Fog the other day was very dense.  I caught this Spider Web Picture walking with our school grandkid through the Fog.

Didn't she cut it in a funny Way?

Goodbye ~~ Friday’s Hunt v.4.22 -- "V" is for ...

Friday's Hunt for the week of December 1st:
1. Starts with V; 2. Wood; and 3.Festive

Saying "Goodbye", us on ship on the  left, and
our new Russian friends left behind in Moscow, right.

1. Starts with "V":  "Voyage" starts with "V".  My favorite River Voyage was our Fall 2006 river passage from Moscow to St. Petersburg.  That all took 12 lovely days, we were the last Viking Line boat to make the trip before Spring.  Our ship would soon be frozen in the water at the riverside docks in St. Petersburg.
The above pictures were shown here.  Below, from the trip summary post here.
"Russia" on my blog search

2. Wood:  Kizhi was a United Nations Heritage site with it's many "Wooden" churches and buildings.  Here we had self guided tours with each major building having a guide to explain things.  Other smaller places had signs which told us what we were seeing.  Built on a small island, we walked from one end to the other. [Be sure to click on the pictures for larger sized viewing -- Back button will/should return you here.]

3. Festive:  Mrs. Jim's Brother, Danny, and SIL, Winetta visited us for the "Thanksgiving week".  The Jim Bunch ate a lot.  And did sightseeing.
