My Inbox — MidWeek Blues — What is this other thing?

.
.
...
I n b o x

Dad's inbox was full
nine letters to write
fifty-five to read
how did he ever?

My inbox is full
fifty thousand plus
e-mails here to cull
how will I ever?

Catching up is hard
some say can't be done
Dad lit a fire
I used the 'delete'

Two generations
apart by the years
harm done is trifling
we did what it took

You can count the keys on this LARGE PRINT typewriter pictured below.
Please also note that it is a manual and not electric.

The prompt word for One Single Impression this week was "Transition" suggested by Teri Casper.
of Teri's Mandala Poetry
For more poems using this prompt word please go to One Single Impression. I first posted this one in my Jim's Little Photo and Poem Place.

A minor concern: People tend to believe everything that I say. Not all my poems are true. Please don't believe every word I write here as gospel, some is poetic fiction. This one tells the truth for me, but Dad would never let his Inbox have even one unattended letter remaining at bedtime.

If you want to post a MidWeek Blues picture, go get directions from Rebecca by clicking on the logo picture on the right. She has a Mr. Linky and good directions . Just do what I did.
Or do less. All she requires is a BLUE PICTURE, you don't have to write.

I really believe you when you say you have 50,000 emails waiting for you to read!! Have fun!

Yes, Anon, you can click on the picture and read from the Yahoo page. I DO HAVE 53,671 e-mails in my box with 52229 of them being UNOPENED.

The to add to these, I use filters, 45 of them right now, to collect types of e-mailings that I want to be separated outl

For instance, my Blog Comments file has collected 18901 comments since I have started blogging in 2005.

I learned to type on a manual typewriter. I was pretty accurate and fast.

That's way too many emails. I would just delete all of them.

Have a terrific day. :)

I have typed on one of these too, oh boy I MUST be getting old! LOL!

I love old typewriters, they're art

your home page screen is very pretty :)

the old red house is a grander version of the type of homes in Keyport, NJ which is a town over from me
I keep finding a new little road there and amidst the condos and assisted living homes I find a gem like that one
I'd love to see inside

hugs to KP
and from Hope

I've used typewriters like that but don't remember them able to do that font.
Those were the days. Need a different font, buy a new machine.

Hi Jim sorry for this late reply, I was looking for my photos and post about fairies. Here it is at the festival in Descanso Gardens. The ladies were really dressed as fairies and the kids too. If you want to check it out, here it is.

Well said! But today's method is much faster so I guess it is both an advantage and disadvantage! I have one of those old typewriters that I use as decor. It was my grandmother's. When the kids were little they used to play with it occasionally and I remember them asking where the delete key was! :)

I like this phrase "I used the 'delete'" It's so effective especially for the spam junk mails :)

Hi Jim ~~ It seems like Dad lit a fire and you hit delete
At times it seems we will never catch up without a bit of deleting.
Poor Adi to do hard work - I doubt it. Perhaps less treats or smaller ones. I can not get over 100 lbs just 49 kilos. And I have been trying to get over that 100 The Ensure supplement may help.
I hope so. Take care. my friend. Cheers, Merle.

I think your poem would have punched harder without the last stanza. It lacked the cuteness of the rest of the poem, and it retreated after the knockout idea from the previous stanza.

I say murder it.
