~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.17 -- "Q" is for ...

Friday's Hunt for the week of April 28st:  (1) Starts with Q; (2) Week's Favorite; and (3) Evening

(1) Starts with "Q":  Q-tip is a common compound word seldom seen in the blogs, not even for the "Q" word of the week.  Guess I was pretty hard up.  Please see the "Note" below for a rundown of the name.  It must be properly protected or it will go generic.  I believe this may be the case already.  Time will tell.

So of what purpose is the lowly Q-tipMen use it to hand pollinate the citrus plants, apply glue or paint in hard-to-get-to places, clean the wax out of their ears (I'd rather use the rounded edge of a paper clip), use it with alcohol or nail polish remover for cleaning up tiny spots, and--what am I leaving out for the guys?

But what in the world do women do with their Q-tipsThey are the keepers, we men have to ask for one.  Mrs. Jim had this one and another in the top drawer in the bathroom.  She said she had a bag of them under the sink, but I didn't see them.

But what does she do with them?  What does she use them for?  Most ladies aren't brave or stupid enough to dare stick one in her ear.  Nor does she build model cars or work with trains.  My guess is that she uses them for tasks which men use their index finger but for which a women wouldn't dare use her finger.

Now, I am asking for the women reading this to tell me what they use the Q-tips, i.e. "cotton swabs", for.

Note: (from my Google Search) "Q-tips®

"Q-TIPS® is a registered trademark of Unilever and is NOT a name for just any cotton swabs. The Q-TIPS® trademark can only be used to refer to the specific cotton swab products manufactured and sold by Unilever and should not be used to refer to cotton swab products of other companies or to cotton swabs generally."

(2) Week's Favorite: Our Great-grandson, JP, had his second birthday.  He celebrated with aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, great-grandparents, and friends with his party in they park.  He enjoyed every minute, stuffed himself with food, and enjoyed the BDay cake.

(3) Evening:  I "cook" some of the light meals.  My specialties are DiGiorno Pizza, hot dogs, corn dogs, and a nice assortment of sandwiches.  Plus trimmings.  This is a TCT, Turkey, Cheese, and Tomato sandwich on toasted wheat bread with leftover potato salad, ready for our evening meal.

Hubby and I both use Q-tips to clean our ears. We are gentle, but when you're out on a boat all the time, you need to keep your ears clean. Trust me.

I love your turkey sandwich. Yummy.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ☺

I use Q-tips to clean kitty's ears and keyboards, and to apply ointments when I don't want to get my fingertips involved. :-) JP is so cute! Are he and KP cousins? Birthday picnics are great fun, and easy clean-up. Your toasted TCT looks delicious, and I see you've gotten away with putting mustard on your potato salad again! ;-) Happy month of May coming up, Jim!

I keep Q-Tips in the kitchen for cleaning in corners and around the sink! So many uses for them. Sometimes as a quick paint brush for small touch-ups.

...when a company has a successful product they risk having the name of an item being generic. Food and birthday parties go hand in hand. You are 'q'uite the cook.

I usually use Q-Tips to clean my keyboard, or sometimes to adjust my make up !

Marc is the keeper of Q-tips in our house! I use them for ear cleaning (both mine and the guinea pigs' ears). I used to use them for applying make-up but I haven't worn make up for years. I prefer a natural look. I also use them for cleaning the keyboard of my computer and other small things. Sometimes I also use them for cleaning jewelry.

Hi Jim and Mrs. Jim! Hope you are both doing well.

Hi Jim and Mrs. Jim! Lots of uses for Q-tips. I worked in an ENT for 12 years so they are a no no in the ears. They work great for cleaning small items and small spaces. That turkey sandwich looks yummy and your potato salad phoy made me smile.
Good seeing you here. Have a great week.

I can honestly say I do not use Q-tips or cotton swabs. Looks like a fun party. I have to say, after your last mention of potato salad with mustard, I had to make some for myself. Thanks so much for joining Friday's Hunt. Have a great week!
