HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! ~~ Friday’s Hunt v.4.26 -- "Z" is for ...
1.a. Starts with "Z": Ze (also zir) starts with "Z". I learned something when I discovered this, you might also like (or you might not):
"ze - Wiktionary

1.b. Starts with "Z": Better I like e Zee, mostly used instead as Easy. Here we have "e Zee on the Eyes" with this beauty, a Red 1955 Ford Crown Victoria. The fine print says they sold for $2,202 new. A new convertible would be $48 less so most opted for the convertible. My new 1956 Ford Convertible cost me $32xx. But it had the Ford Thunderbird engine, auto transmission, and air conditioning. AM radio, also extra, was it for the Fords and Chevys back then.
I have a story about a particular 1955 Ford. My grandfather, just about ever since I new him and the cars that he drove, with a 1942 Ford being the first car I remember him having, tried to buy a new car every year, alternating between Ford products and Buicks. His last was a White 1955 Ford Tudor.
One day when his '55 Ford was fairly new he took me riding. After he had asked if I liked his car, he said that when he died I could have it. Well, he died still having that car but I didn't get it. I am not sure what happened to it, I was away in the Army then. And of course he hadn't changed his will for me either.
Pictures of the Calendar January page is from the newest of my NAPA Classic Car Calendar collection. I have all but the first edition, 1972 or 1973.
Here on the right you are seeing a reflection of Mrs. Jim, watching and waiting for me to finish taking this picture.
I wanted to show some of our churches' Christmas Train Exhibitions. We were standing outside a window, hence her reflection in the glass.
3.a. The end:
This will be Teresa's last time for to host the Friday Hunt. Next year Tom, of The http://backroadstraveller.blogspot.com/2017/12/fridays-hunt-z.html#!/2017/12/fridays-hunt-z.html, the Back Roads Traveler, will be hosting Weekend Roundup which will be going through the Alphabet like I have been doing the past several years. Both for Teresa's blog and another.
Also my Calendar, with the picture of the 1955 Ford, has this page up front for the end of 2017 with December.
Then the next page, close to the front end, will start 2018, January, with a Red 1957 Chevy Bellaire Convertible. I will post this and tell you about my friend who have one. Another scary ending to begin the year with.
You can click and see here pictures and read of some of other NAPA Calendar pages which I have posted here from time to time.
3.b. The end: This is the end of one of my Christmas presents, a Lemon Pie from Houston La Table. It was a miniature pie from our daughter, Karen.
She purchased the next to last one for me. I shared it with Mrs. Jim, here is a picture of the last bite which was a part of her half, or nearly half. It was really good, "great!!"

Yellow Day Lilies ~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.25 -- "Y" is for ...
The second bunch of yellow flowers, on the left, I don't know what they are. They are all about our subdivision, here by our mailbox group.
2. Week’s Favorite: This will be another Yellow object, I found this Yellow Mitsubishi ( or Dodge ??) Lancer driving along beside me. Again, I was on our Cinco Ranch Boulevard. The Lancers were made during the years (work in progress finding this information). This one was in fine shape and was being driven by a little old man.

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.24 -- "X" is for ...
(1) Starts with X: X's are hard to find. I did do some Flash writing on my other blog, my main character was named 'Xentor". I actually quit before I hardly started, here are some of those, click. This opportunity was available only on certain of Jenny's Saturday Centus days. 100 word posts with certain other restrictions were . (Saturday Centus posts) About a year ago Jenny became ill and has almost stopped blogging.
Mrs. Jim and I shared chicken 'fajitas for one.' Sorry no picture. Berryhill's is famed for its fish tacos. My say, "they are good but too messy." To work around that I order them "dry" with the fish sauce on the side. That works. And I can be judicious with the sauce's application.
Sixteen of our twenty-four were present. I noted that the fifteen of them that were here, all were my descendants, spouses of one, or steadily following one.
The nine others were accounted for; four were here in Texas having other commitments, two are in California/Arizona, two in Alaska, and one in Washington, D.C.
Some more pictures: Our oldest granddaughter's due date is less than a couple of weeks away. She will add one more girl to our two girl "Greats" list. One boy, JP (link).
(3) Insect: June Bug. The little brown beetle who flies the night away, looking for a light. When, and if, it finds the light it spends the rest of the night worshipping that light. And then before daylight our June Bug dies.
Several years back I blogged a feature, "June Bug of the Week." I didn't exactly give it that name. I had a running joke with Rachel that what she called a June Bug was actually not a June Bug as June Bugs are supposed to be brown. You will notice that NONE of these is a real June Bug. (The June Bug Collection)
At right is one of my "Xentor" favorites. A few others may be seen here.

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.23 -- "W" is for ...
(1) Starts with "W": "W" is for Wash. Who? Jim.
What does Jim do? He/I do my own clothes washing, here is a little about how I do it in pictures:
"W" is probably most commonly used (followed by We) in the question sentences, Who, What, When, Where, and Why.
(2) Week's Favorite: What? Calendar -- Also a "When" Question.
When can I reuse this calendar? If you look closely (click to enlarge) you will see that it is a 2006 calendar. Well this is the first year that we can use the 2006 again.
The picture is of Sorrento, Italy. The Isle of Capri is to the left, across the way. We were in Sicily for two weeks in 2006 and then another week in Sorrento.
Sorry the picture isn't real clear. Our hotel was down the street to the right from the taller buildings. It was a wonderful place to visit!
(Link to Google Sorrento)
Got a 2007 calendar? Check it out, when you can use it again from the link below. (Answer, next year, 2018) (Highlight the blank space in the 'answer' above.
I don't throw my car calendars away, especially not my NAPA Auto Parts Classic Calendars. (click here, a link for some others). Except for the very first one back in the early 70's I have them all. Ask if I can find them all? Probably not.
https://www.whencanireusethiscalendar.com/?y=2007
What? The NAPA calendar is showing a 1951 Buick Roadmaster Convertible.
The Jim's Hardware calendar is showing a 1932 Dodge Brothers F-10 Pickup.
Which one do I hang on my office wall? The NAPA calendar of course.
(3) Pastel: pas·tel paˈstel/ Adjective
Soft colored. synonyms: pale, soft, light, light-colored, muted, subtle, subdued, soft-hued

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.22 -- "V" is for ...
(2) Week's Favorite: My very favorite was the Clafouti aux Cerises (French for Cherry Custard Cake) that Mrs. Jim made. First on the left is my plate before three dips of Blue Bell Vanilla ice cream. Sooo good!! You can click on the recipe for a larger size viewing. You may have to also raise your computer Zoom level. I constantly run mine at 125% because my glasses are not strong enough for the normal computer screen printing.

(1) Starts with "V": Veteran starts with "V". This picture is of my Honorable Discharge copied. The copy is 55 years old and has endured a flood in our home. [click it for a larger view] The original has my full name and Service Number. I was in the U.S. Army for five years, all except two weeks for processing was spent in Texas. Eight weeks Basic Training in Fort Hood and the rest at Fort Bliss, Texas (El Paso).
I was drafted and then after my two years I was without a job because of a recession when my first discharge came, I reenlisted for three more years. One year of that being for the NIKE Hercules Fire Control Maintenance course of 43 weeks plus two more weeks for MOI (Methods of Instruction) which was my Instructor Training course and an additional week for a course in Television Instruction and Production. My practice TV course was on "How to Ride a Vespa Motor Scooter". The NIKE course was all about electronics and trouble shooting.
With my electronics Army training and experience I was qualified for a Field Engineer job with the Philco Corporation's Tech Rep Division. I worked this job for 17 years,. When I left Ford Motors had bought them out and I was a Senior Aerospace Engineer at NASA. It also gave me the electronics education I needed for an Amateur Radio station operation. I have been a Ham Radio person not for 57 years (K1TLT--Amateur Extra Class).
Incidentally though I was a college prof for 22 years the Army MOI and the TV Instruction course were all the teaching classes I have ever had. Besides the college I volunteer taught Sunday School classes for over 30 years. My NASA and Army time was also in training. At New Hampshire my job for three years was teaching Air Men how to operate and maintain the equipment at the satellite tracking.
At NASA it was teaching and training Astronauts and Flight Controllers their roles using flight simulators. During missions I had a position of Electrical Control or Environmental Control in the back room and keeping the Skylab Flight Control Room "ECom" appraised of whichever system I was monitoring and offering "suggestions" as to what actions if any were needed in these areas.
(3) Inch: This and 14 more frozen Six Inch "Galaxy Butter Croissants" were part of Karen and KP's Mother's Day present for Mrs. Jim. We have been enjoying these, there are still several left. They came frozen unbaked so they are extra fresh.
Older 2006 pictures [ http://jimmiehov.blogspot.com/search?q=cow+pie ] My ex-blogging friend, Ralph [ Link ], made the suggestion back then to always include a ruler in pictures where its size is important. I did the ruler with the giant toadstool that Adi found. (Adi died in 2013. She was my best beagle dog friend) It was the giant cow pie that he suggested I include the ruler. It was about ten inches across.

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.21 -- "U" is for ...
(3) Kids: At least once a week we have been privileged to walk our KP to school. Sometimes, mostly with cold or bad weather we drive her. She likes to walk with the neighbor kids. She was walking with a close friend and her mother on this day. The neighbor's little brother was dilly-dallying along behind or I would have had him in the picture also.
(1) Starts with "U": "Unglued" is a seven letter word starting with "Un". There are 355 of these seven letter starters, this is one that only gets you nine points in Scrabble.
Most "Un" words and many of the plain "U" words have an opposite by dropping the prefix. A few like "Upload" (I'm uploading this when I finish--actually also every time I "save" during composition) will have for opposite another prefixed word like here, "Download".
(2) Week's Favorite: We had a nasty storm with several smallish tornados around our area this week. After one hard day of hail and winds we had this lovely Rainbow make and appearance over the homes behind us.
And Dagwood is dreaming about food. Do you think that Dagwood is on Facebook? I didn't try to find out but I am thinking his syndication is.
(Lagniappe Google definition link)
Did you know that Unfriend is not a word for Second Graders. KP missed getting her deserved grade when she used Unfriend in a sentence. Her teacher counted that answer as bad, not credit. Seems she doesn't subscribe to Google:
Do you think "Unfriend" is a real English vocabulary word?
Best answer: We asked "Oxford". (click here to find out)
