~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.20 -- "T" is for ....

Friday's Hunt for the week of May 19th:  (1) Starts with "T";  (2) Week's Favorite; and (3) Food

(2) Week's Favorite:  Mother's Day 2017 -- Three Generations

And to the right is the first year picture for Karen and KP to be mother, daughter.  And first for Mrs. Jim to be KP and grandmother.

Now KP is seven to be eight in a couple of months.

And HERE is a link to the word generations appearing in my blog.  It has several Holiday occasions with kids and grandkids.

 (1) Starts with "T":  "T" is for Truck.

For years I have had a pickup truck. Finally I sold it, fairly cheap. All my cars I sell fairly cheap.  A man isn't the "Real Man" anymore after he gets rid of his truck.

Now my pickups are on paper and on the Internet.   I like old trucks.  This year I have a calendar from Jims Hardware Store which I really enjoy.  And no, I don't know Jim.  Thirteen pretty trucks. This month's is a 1952 Chevy Three Window Pickup, (the five window ones are more in demand--they have a small window on each corner in the back) which is nicely restored.

(3) Food:  We have a weekly date with MacDonald's.   Why?  What's with the pie?

We take our youngest granddaughter to MacDonald's on the way to her gymnastic classes.
Mrs. Jim made this delicious chocolate pie (from scratch)
using my sister (linkLois's friend's recipe.
Her pie story:
.
As you can tell, I'm back from Iowa and have started to catch up with my blogging craziness cravings.

I have been staying with my sister, Lois, who lives in Iowa. I rode up with her and hubby, Jim, a week ago Monday and then flew back yesterday courtesy of Delta Airlines and my savings account.

Mrs. Jim stayed home this time. She had the pets with her though, Adi, Katrin, and Amber

Lois is a very nice host (
link to prior blog about her taking Mrs. Jim and me to Jonesy's, picture below, left, of her eating a pork tenderloin sandwich--she treated me there again this time!). We certainly didn't hurt for food while I was there.

Her brother-and-sister-in-law, John/Jack and Mary Lou also came to visit us on Wednesday. Mary Lou had made and brought the most delicious butternut squash pie I have eaten. Well, it was the first one also but it was really good. When she brought it in we thought it was my favorite vegetable, pumpkin pie.

Lois had made this chocolate pie and baked an apple crisp cobbler too. After we had eaten generous portions of all three, Lois stacked them in her refrigerator with the chocolate on top. Wouldn't you know it fell out top down onto the floor.

Lois saved the day for us. She carefully scraped the remaining meringue off and with the leftovers during our stay we finished it off with whip cream. Well, we didn't exactly finish off the chocolate pie OR the squash pie.

Mary Lou took both leftover pies home with her.

Comments:
Happy belated mothers day to Mrs. Jim! That chocolate pie looks scrumptious. I wouldn't mind if it fell on the floor! I'd still eat it! I never had a Jonesie's pork sandwich when I lived in Iowa. I sure had a lot of other yummy food though. Des Moines had some great bbq places. I've only been back once, but I went to one of my fave spots for bbq when I went. Does Lois share her pie recipe? My husband sold his truck last year. We used it a lot but after we moved, we had to cut costs, and the truck had to go. Maybe we'll have another one in future - it sure came in handy sometimes.

...Hey Jim, some might nice women in your life I see! You have a weekly date with MacDonald's, poor you! Have a great week.

Mmmm, does that pie look good!

I'm not a huge fan of pies but I do love cheesecake!

Your ladies are beautiful in any generation! That Chevy is gorgeous, nicer looking than the Ford F-Series of the day. A pie from scratch? And chocolate? What's not to love!

Hi Jim,
The truck on the calendar looks good. My calendars usually picture dogs but i could look at trucks or tractors just as easily. Its good to read that you had a good time away and that you got back safe and sound.

Love the three generation pictures! I really miss having a truck too. It's almost a necessity on the farm. Glad you enjoyed your stay in my part of the country! Lucky the pie had meringue to save the day! Thank you so much for joining Friday's Hunt. Hope you have a great week!
