~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.06 -- "F" is for ...
Friday's Hunt for February 10, 2017: (1) Starts with "F"; (2) Week's Favorite; and (3) Heart
( 1) Starts with "F": "F" is for 'Fantabulous "F"'. These are three of my Fantabulous Four Friends . Mrs. Jim, Karen (missing here), KP, and BP

(2) Week's Favorite: Washington, D.C, beckoned us. We went to attend the Georgetown University's production of "The Phantom Tollbooth" which was produced by our granddaughter, BP. BP is now a sophomore at Georgetown. Of course we had front row seats.
At the right is one of the four theatres at Georgetown University. BP's production was a part of the ________ Building.
If you haven't read the book, I think that you will like it. A little like each of Alice in Wonderland and of The Wizard of Oz. Here is as synopsis of that book. Written by Norton Juster with illustrations by Jules Feiffer, it was published in 1961. "Though the book is on its face an adventure story, a major theme is the need for a love of education.

On Saturday Morning BP lead us with a group of others on a Campus Tour. One of her part time jobs is with the Admissions Office who is responsible for Campus tours. We had the best campus tour I can remember having.
(3) Heart : I have always admired Peter Max. He paints many Statue of Liberty, American Patriotic emblems, Angels, and Hearts. He has donated his painting, "Angel with Heart" to the Heart Institute housed in St. Luke's Hospital, Houston Medical Center.
Max also sells a poster sized print of this picture. One of his "Angel with Heart" poster pictures is on my Bucket list.

Our tour guide said the Secret Service was not happy with this cannon as no weapons are allowed this close to the Capital buildings. Finally a compromise was arranged and now this is the closest piece of artillery to the Capital area.
...........................We walked through this building, ground floor.
The classrooms are nice.
..................We ended our tour at the Bookstore, just like they end up at the gift shop on the commercial tour. Each of the girls were rewarded by Bill with a new water bottle with the Georgetown University logo.
It was at the book store that I found out from a phone call from my sister that my cousin, John, had died. John stayed at home in Nebraska. We were nine cousins, all grandchildren from my dad and his three brothers. Don, Bud, Lois, Ione, and I all moved away to Missouri, Colorado, Iowa, Arkansas, and me in Texas.
We did not get up to the funeral but do plan on going to the midlands in the summer. My sister comes to Texas regularly to visit her daughter and family, a husband, three grandchildren, in-laws, and a great-grandchild, and ME, her brother.

The Georgetown University Chapel. When the Pope comes to Washington D.C. he attends worship services here. Former Vice President Bidden also attended here, most every Sunday. When KP was standing in front of these I was thinking of her when we went to Dubrovnik (Croatia). She would name the chapels there by the number of bells they had. This would be a "One Bell Chapel." At right, on entrance to the classroom building below. On the left is the front entrance to the campus. It is also one of the places the cabs and Ubers take on passengers or drop them off. On the left is the building containing student apartments. Four students will share each unit. To the right are a row of apartments for seniors. Senior citizens, or senior class students?

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.18 -- "R" is for ...
Friday's Hunt for the week of May 5th: (1) Starts with R; (2) Week's Favorite; and (3) window
(1) Starts with R: "RED"-- so here I have an assortment of RED. I'll tell a little as well. Please note that my Week's Favorite and the Window also have RED.
I'll start things out with JP. JP is my great-grandson. Here he is still one year old, but last week's Friday's Hunt post had some pictures of his second birthday celebration with Family.
So this is RED for his little Red Petal Car. He goes all over the house in it.
Next I have more for the RED assortment. First we will have a little food with red. Did you know that a lot of food has Red, some even have used Red Dye to accent the Red color?
On the left is a small plate of the included breakfast at our Washington D.C. hotel. We styed at the Marriot in downtown. Of course the strawberries are red as is the catsup red for my scrambled eggs.
On the left is one of the new size graham crackers with my favorites spread, chocolate frosting and peanut butter. What is red is the little Red Plate. It isn't really a plate but I have forgotten what is from, probably a lid of some sorts. Don't you just hate it that the graham cracker has been downsized?? The box now holds 15 ounces of theses smaller crackers instead of the 16 ounces in the old regular size.
Here we have a winner if the owner would just put his "Johnny Cash put together truck" Remember that song, the fellow would steal one part for his car a day from his work. Then after a few years he would have a whole car, a 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953 Cadillac. (ONE PIECE AT A TIME by Johnny Cash, click for Lyrics or YouTube )
What is Red here are the taillights on each car. Almost dark, they really show up. BTW, I would hate to HAVE TO identify the pickup but I am guessing that it is a Ford, around the 1980's.
(2) Week's Favorite: Flower Girl at the wedding. Ladies, left to right: my niece, mother of the bride; Mrs. Jim, great-aunt of the bride; and Lois, grandmother of the bride and my sister from Iowa (link). In the foreground is the flower girl, my great-great-niece and niece of the bride as well. (More below)(I might be my own grandfather.)
This, on the left, was after the wedding of my great-niece. The flower girl was my niece's niece, making the flower girl my great-great-niece. She scattered her Red Petals all over the Red Carpet of the Church. Then after the wedding she came back an picked the Petals all back up, putting them in her basket.
On the right is also inside the old Methodist church, the ceiling of which was decorated with Red Umbrellas for the wedding. This church survived the Great Flood of brought on by a hurricane in 1900. But it was not so fortunate the last hurricane, but now much of it has been restored, capable of having regular church services and activities.
(3) Window: This is a row of mostly Hotels in Honfleur, France (link). I would opt for a room with a view, i.e. a pretty view from my window.
I will tell more about our visit to this place next week, it will be my "S" Word Story of the Week.

Today, what's left of it is Cinco de Mayo, the Fifth of May, the day when Mexico made it big time. It is a holiday that celebrates the date of the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla. Read more about it here.
Mexican food uses a lot of Red Tomatoes and Red Tomato Sauce, which gives the Mexican a red hue. On the plate at the left is a chili relleno, a chili pepper stuffed with meat or cheese (link). Beside the small bowl of (also used Tomato Sauce) charro beans (link) is a small pico de gallo (link) salad with pieces of red tomato.
On the right is a MacDonald's Egg MacMuffin with a fried egg and a slice of processed ham. But notice my ketchup bottle, ketchup is definitely red from red tomato. The good thing about Egg MacMuffin (English muffin) is that they are half price if you will enter a little survey which is on your last receipt. The half price is good until one month after that previous sale. Note: If you are used to eating real British English Muffins you will be disappointed. The American variety is tough while the British is more like fresh made bread in consistency.

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.07 -- "G" is for ...
Friday Hunt for the week of February 17th: (1) Starts with G; (2) Week's Favorite; and (3) Pink
(1) Starts with G:
"G" is for Grandchildren. Last week's trip to Washington D.C. was a grandchild visit, we went to visit BP. KP, our youngest Grandchild and her parents also came along, Karen (our daughter) and Bill (SIL).
Pictured at right are BP and KP at the skating rink on Saturday afternoon. In these pictures are also BP's three roommates. They live in a Georgetown U. apartment. Note also that KP is skating with a Penguin, which is an aid for helping beginning skaters to remain upright while skating.
Graham Crackers -- What do you see in the right hand picture? I see two boxes of Graham Crackers, same brand, one smaller than the other one. What does this mean?
Kroger has downsized the size of the crackers to fit, resulting in a "savings" from 16 oz in the boxes to 14.4 oz making the smaller box workable. So have other brands (link). Martha Stewart has a recipe for making your own. I'll let you know if I make some (link)
Green RV, I don't know the make but it is not a Jeep, parked at our Kroger Grocery store along with the other cars.
Grocery Cart: Full of savings, this Grocery Cart is. We saved $101.00 and had a payment for the reminder, $67.97.
I wish we could do this every day, but that is the way things work. Our local Randall store was going out of business and everything in the store was 50, 60, or 70 percent off.
Ginger Plant: These bromeliads (???) were sitting in the window of the United Airline Lounge at the Reagan Airport in Washington D.C. Note the Capital building behind the departing plane. We took the picture through the window, from above the plants.
At first I thought they were ginger plants but now I have decided that these are probably bromeliads. If you read some of the following, it's hard to tell.

We had a row of ginger plants on the property line at our former Montgomery hom (link). For a long time we didn't know what they were, just a plant given at Mrs. Jim's Mom's funeral and afterwards we turned it into an outdoor plant. These truly were ginger plants and had bulb type roots similar to the ginger roots found in the produce section of the grocery stores.
(2) Week's Favorite: Galentine Day (also a "G" word) at our LaMadeleine restarant. The Gals could get a buy one, get one meal. We, Mrs. Jim, the Gal, and I had the sampler plate.
And we drank lots of coffee

(3) Pink: a Pink Guitar (makes this post ALL "G" words). This is a KP's Christmas present from Mimi and Papa.
It includes guitar lessons for some time. Some time is rather uncertain, but that all depends on the progress KP is making.
