Weekend Roundup -- 01-18 (for letter "A")

Weekend Roundup --
Starts with "A", Week's Favorite, and Art

1. Starts with "A": "Away" starts with "A"

"Away in a Manger":
This manger was in a neighbor's lawn.  I especially like it because when taken down it will fold for easy storing and occupying a small space.

For next year I think I will try to make one out of a half piece of plywood.
I learned this song at school, 1st grade:

"Away in a Manger
....  Faith Hill
Away in a manger
No crib for His bed
The little Lord Jesus
Lay down His sweet head

The stars in the sky
Look down where He lay
The little Lord Jesus
Asleep on the hay

The cattle are lowing
The poor Baby wakes
But little Lord Jesus
No crying He makes

I love Thee, Lord Jesus
Look down from the sky
And stay by my side
'Til morning is nigh

Be near

'Away up there':
Those niches are as long way away from the floor, and still a ways up from my 10-foot stepladder.

This is the first year we have used them for Christmas.  Thank goodness the nutcrackers are made of wood and aren't very heavy.

Next year I will use my 14-foot stepladder.  We had to have a handy man come to exchange a battery for the smoke detector outside the master bedroom, behind the fireplace.

2.  Week's Favorite:
"Ghosts at Full Moon"
I just happened to catch this one in our garden/backyard begging at the first Super Moon of January.  There will be another late in the month, the 31st.

Since there are two full moons in one month, the second is called a "Blue Moon".  Using my camera it will not seem any different than this one.

Inside the sheet, the ghost is actually our orange flowering hibiscus plant which will be a casualty of the cold night.  It got down to 25°F, which was a bit too cold for the tender plant.

3.  Art:  Box Car Art

These two pictures are what I call "Box Car Art" although to some it is just plain (malicious??) graffiti.  I noticed them as the train passed at the crossing where I was waiting to cross.  I was very pleased with my stop.

As an aside, why don't you be on the lookout
for some Box Car Art and share it here.

I shared these pictures before on my other blog with a little poem which surmised the attributes of a possible artist who did the painting.  Link

4. LagniappeAlpha Romeo Car Logo (starts with "A")

Let us see as we progress at what letter we have to skip because there isn't nor hasn't been a car starting with that letter.

I'm getting my car info from

Comments:
...hey Jim, I see lots of these "Away in a Manger" scenes up here in snow country, but since they are white they sure are hard to photograph. Yours shows up a whole lot better! Surely many would consider 'Box Car Art' to be destructive, but I like graffiti a lot better than rust. Stepladders and I don't do well together, I like both of my feet on the floor at the same time. Thanks for being here and I hope that you can 'B' here next week.

Love all your Christmas decorations. We don't do ladders here anymore. We don't want to break anything.

Have a fabulous day and weekend. ☺

This blog makes me so happy! Your home is beautiful. I love the manger scene and the boxcar art. I can't wait for the next installment.
