A Jam — My Alphabe-Thursday -- "J" -- Two Questions -- Things in a Row

.
"J" is for Jam -- like, "hey, I got myself in a little bit of a Jam." (start of a phone conversation)
.
"You see I dropped my iPhone in the changing booth at WalMart and now the cops have got me  for, well I don't really know what for."
.
"Well, did you get arrested?"
"Not exactly but they think that I put a ... ," muffled, "sob, sniff, sob, sniffle ... "
.
"They think I put a camera on the floor to watch the girls change clothes (more sniffles)."
.
"What is going on there now?  When are you coming home?"
.
"They are holding me in the back of a police car."
.
"Are you coming home?"
.
"They are checking the phone to see if there are any pictures that I took tonight."
.
"Can you come home?"
.
"It sounds like it, like they are going to take me home.  But they want then to talk with you, Mom."
.
"Oh."

"Oh."
.
Real life in the day of a Houston Police team.  I first heard it on the TV news and then found it in the Houston Chronicle .

"Jam" is also used to spread on bread, pancakes, and biscuits.
Here at our house I found these in the refrigerator and have them lined up into two little rows. The rows are for my Thursday Things in a Row part of this post.
.
In the packets we see the real "Jam" in case you haven't seen any lately. The first is from a breakfast at our new Burger King and is called "Strawberry Jam" and I put it on my biscuit half that I didn't eat with the sausage.
.
Also in that row is a packet from MacDonald's but it is called "Strawberry Preserves." I used it for the same way as the Burger King jam. (Prior post link, scroll down to the MacDonald's sack picture)
.
The next row has a jar of "Bonne Maman Strawberry Preserves" (link). These have become my favorite Strawberry Preserves and are made in the U.S. I was first introduced to them in a small hotel in Paris where they were served for breakfast in a small individual portion-sized jars which were made in France.
.
Next in line is a jar of "Polaner All Fruit with Fiber Raspberry seedless" which you might recall is NOT Jelly in the 'pass the jelly' commercial (link).
.
Lastly is a jar of Fig Preserves that Mrs. Jim made.  We eat this mostly with our morning biscuits which Mrs. Jim also makes, from scratch.

And now for my Thursday Two Questions: (See Thursday Two Questions by Self Sagacity for more reading. You could also make your own by checking in at this link.)
...
Last week 's post and questions were about Wild Flowers, Blue, and/or Outside Activities.
.
My Two Questions for this week (you can answer just one if you wish):
.

1. What is you favorite "Jam" used to spread onto bread, etc?

Actually most anything that Mrs. Jim makes is tons better than store bought.
2. Any "Jam" that you got into where you had to call Mom?
.
I have lived a charmed life and have escaped that hard of a punishment for my baddies.
Bonus Question: What should my bonus question have been today?

I think there is a difference between jelly and jam but I never know what. but I always like strawberry jam. it goes great with peanut butter in a sandwich and also with bagel and cream cheese.

great J post. have a great day.

No I never ever got into a jam that caused me to call my parents, but my brother - God rest his soul sure did.

I love strawberry jam.

Lovely post Jim. I needed the smile. My mom used to make a wonderful low sugar strawberry jam. Mmmm. She also made a raspberry jam out of green tomatoes. I have the recipe posted in my triond account. Your third question could have been for our fav jam recipe. :-) I am blessed with a mom who would have come to my rescue, but she never had to. lol

We often go for a cup of tea and toasted tea cake. The fruit in them is so great that we don't need to use the jam they give us but rather than waste it we bring it home and use it for toast in the morning. Nothing like it!

I like your examples of the meaning of the word jam.

I suppose there is a difference in jam and preserves but my grandmother used to make delicious fig preserves.

Somehow I managed to get myself out of jams on my own and never had to call mom. Not sure how I managed it but things worked out.

Heck Jim, I barely came up with a bonus question for myself this week. You're on your own. LOL!

I think I prefer the strawberry type of jam to Jimmy's.

I prefer strawberry jam or jelly. Although my mother-in-law made strawberry/rhubarb jam that was out of this world. She has passed, and not only do I miss her, but her excellent cooking and baking!

There is nothing like the taste of home-made biscuits and jam/preserves. Honey is really good, too! In fact, you reminded me I need to make a batch of biscuits today. Thanks for that! lol

My favorite jam would be either blueberry or strawberry, but I love orange marmalade on my toast. Yum!

I don't recall a time I ever had to call my mother to bail me out of trouble. I guess basically I was a good kid. ^.^

PS: Have you considered doing away with the word verification? This is rather annoying for most people and I've found it's really not necessary at all, if you allow your comments to be sent via email for monitoring purposes.

I had to chuckle at your first jam. Sometimes things just seem to happen that way.

Now you've made me want to dig out the canning jars and make some homemade peach jam~my favorite!

Jars of jams and jellies.
I am a jam girl myself. Apricot is my favorite!

And, any wildness I got up to in my youth, I make EXTRA DARN SURE I never had to involve the Mother!!!!

Great J post.

I like strawberry and blueberry jam, the home made ones of course!

I never have to call my mother, as she doesn't drive or speak English..I will have to be on my own if I ever in a "jam"!

1. Strawberry is my favorite, then blackberry, then boysenberry. Love those berries.

2. I can't think of any jam that I got into that I had to call my mom. I'm not saying I was a good kid, but I never went to jail either.

3. No you did right by not having a bonus question today. Everyone is tired and you are giving us a little break.

Have a terrific day. :)

I am hooked on crab apple jelly myself. Have it almost every day!

2) No jams that I would have to call mom. :-) Usually, the jams I get into are called for muscle help. I call a man or SO.
1) I don't like jams very much. I never got used to eating sweet with my meals. I can only eat sweets after my meals. Cereals is the most that I would go for sweets in my meal.
I would love to try Mrs. Jim's jams. Homemade...now, that is a huge difference.

I love jam, and jelly and all those things even remotely close to being jam...and don't forget the peanut butter too!

"Actually most anything that Mrs. Jim makes is tons better than store bought." This sentence definitely puts a smile on Mrs Jim's face :)

Dear Jim, hope you don't ever find yourself in THAT kind of jam...jeeeez loueeeez. And if you're eating jam, make sure it's real, cuz the rest is not a good deal...heehee. Have a great day!

That was an interesting convo. I supposed he did not want to have to call his mom in such a situation!

I don't use jam. I prefer preserves and use it all the time.

I didn't have a mom to call when I was ever in a jam. And come to think of it, I don't remember much of being in jams :)

Aloha :)

The very best way to get rid of the spammers is to not allow anonymous comments. I don't get any of those ads anymore and my commenters don't have to try to figure out word verification.

Have a terrific day. :)

So many different types of Jams...

My personal favorite is seedless blackberry...

I definitely don't like the kind with the police...

Great post for the letter J!

A+
