Letter "Z" -- Friday's Weekend Roundup 08 / Reflections and-or Street Captures

[New cat in the family]

Tom's This Week's Prompts:
Starts with "Z";
A Favorite; and
Tom's choice, "ZZZ".

[New American Encyclopedia,
Grammar, Rhetoric, page 25,
c. 1908, P.F Colier & Son]

Starts with "Z":   Zeugma, a.k.a. Syllepsis, starts with the "Z".  A grammar term that means omitting an implied word, a verb or noun, which the reader by the mind presumes is there.  I don't think we had this in grammar school nor in high school.  Did you?

["as seen on TV" advertisement video]

My pictorial example for ZeugmaThey were all seated at the table and began eating, and the dog. [what was the dog doing, it also was at the table eating.]

A FavoritePets will be my favorite today.  This posting may be going to the dogs anyway.

This is Adi, our therapy dog, reading with BP

She specialized in reading with children

and visiting assisted living residents"

Adi died September 17, 2012 (read my tribute to her here

Adi was born September 1, 1996.  Read Adi's blog post here.

Tom's  choice,  "ZZZ":  "ZZZ", I was getting my Z's, a little snooZe, but then Jim came along and by his commotion woke me up.

Reflections and Street Captures:  This is Dutch, he didn't know we were watching him watch some birds play on the sidewalk and the street.  When he looked away, I caught this one.

Then he saw me and pleaded to make the room quiet again so the kids wouldn't scare his birds away.

Dutch, a Blue Russian cat, belongs to my younger daughter and youngest granddaughter.  He's still fairly new to our family.

Read of "
Princess BP's" tale about Katrin being naughty with the
toothpaste.

Lagnaippe:  I can't leave the Alphabet with telling of Katrin .  She was our Toy Poodle dog, who died in November 2014.  We miss her very much also.
Mrs. Jim 'inherited' Katrin when her real mother died of cancer back in 2009.  Basically, she has been a very good dog, a lot better for us than for her former owner.  Some links to visit:

The word Zeugma is new to me, but we were taught to write more clearly and not leave the meaning to be supposed.

I love the cat in the suitcase photo! Thanks for teaching this old dog new words "Zeugma, a.k.a. Syllepsis" . :-)

the cat is the Star!
