Starts with "L": Lois starts with "L". This is my sister, Lois. We don't see her very often anymore; she lives in a faraway state, and we live down south in Texas.
Here, Lois 'baby' sits' dogs for her son and grandchildren. She has never said yes to my request for her to 'baby' sit Adi. Probably she thought I wasn't being serious. Adi, the Beagle Dog, was here because we were visiting Lois.

A Favorite: "Last" will be my Favorite today. This is my Last garbage Can Liner out of the batch we inherited from Mema, Mrs. Jim's mother.
Where Mema lived a big roll of liners came, no extra charge, every two or three months. She didn't need that many but saved them for us, her son-in-laws. After she moved out of her house we collected six rolls of these, I think we found a few more and I took two more. They have lasted us for about twenty years, now we'll have to but them.
Oh yes, Last isn't always my favorite. Generally I hate being Last in many things. Standing in Lines and being Last, to shut off the lights, I hate being last to shut off the lights as I hate being in the dark. But being nice may be polite, Jesus said the first shall be last. Matthew 20, verse 16, Matthew 20, verse 16.
Tom's choice, "Love": I Love my grandchildren. I have six, none are favorites. That said the younger and those living close naturally get more attention.
This is our Last grandchild, the picture taken several years ago. She is a teenager now. Probably it will be the Last time I'll catch her with my camera pulling in the garbage can.
Lagniappe #1: I Love this quote, so does one of my Facebook friends who posted it.
Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures: I went out to get a picture, the one on the left, and noticed the Reflection in the window of the plant, a --- that is about to reach the eaves of our house. The Reflection is of that in the window of our back yard. So I took another that showed it better, and then one of Palmeira flower showing the living room back window's Reflection.
A Lagniappe #2: Tell about one of your experiences with peppers.
I have a recipe for "Quick and Easy Stuffed Bell Peppers."
Use precooked boudin, it consists of Cajun spiced sausage and rice, perfect for stuffing precooked (boiled) cut in halves Green Pepper. One link will make two stuffed half peppers, a package generally comes with two or more links.
Bake in the oven, probably about 350 degrees until nice and hot.
You can garnish the top with breadcrumbs or even put ketchup on the tops. Yum Yum.

I could not find much about this specific car we see. In races the Abrey's enter it in the pre-1920 class. (road rally link picture) I was not sure exactly looking to find more.
BUT ANYWAY, THEY WERE THERE, ON THE STREET BESIDE OUR CITY BUS.
Tom's choice,"Grand": The last beach where we played was at the Seven Mile Beach at Grand Cayman Island.
We always call him, no matter where he is or who he really is, the Friendly Stranger. A Friendly Stranger took this picture, it has been cropped to portrait size.
Aside, he had been drinking a lot but was able to snap this one for us. We hope he didn't drown; the warm water may have sobered him up, I wonder?

A Lagniappe #1: There's a lot of Gaff that teachers have to put up with. It is no wonder that so many are retiring ASAP, most Gaff comes from the politicians and some also by the mislead parents.
The pictures are some books that teachers, and libraries, have no discretion but to follow new rules to ban them.
For this week's post I've circled all that have a prominent "G" letter in the word and its usage.
From top to bottom the words are as follows:
Ghost; Gay; Gay; and Gender.
I agree, some are not suitable for all ages, but adults should be able to read as they wish.
A Lagniappe #2: BTW, I bought a used book today, "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. Both Mrs. Jim and I had read excerpts but not the entire book.
A Lagniappe #3: I like the comics, a.k.a. funnies, but I read only about ten of the many of those in my Houston Chronicle. Five I make a point of reading and then five or six more if I feel like reading more. The top five are Peanuts, Mother Goose and Grim, Hagar the Horrible, Blondie, and Beatle Bailey.
Peanuts is my favorite, I like Beatle Bailey because he is an Army Private and I started my five years as a Private also. The other five or six I often read are Bizarro, B.C, Family Circus, Ziggy, Rymes with Orange, and F-Minus. I hardly ever read anymore.
In peanuts right now, Snoopy's brother, Spike, is visiting. He is in bad shape with the drought in the desert where he lives and came for help.

Growing up I used to read Dick Tracy, Little Orphan Annice, and Little Abner which terminated in 1977 (read more). I still have my 127 Dick Tracy camera.

THE NINETEENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES - The Letter "S" Prompts are: (A) Starts with the Letter "S"; (B) "Silver" (Tom's Choice); (C) A Favorite; and (D) A Lagniappe.

(A) Starts with the Letter "S"; My 1943 School Picture for 6th grade. It was a one room School for grades one through eight. I think the taller two girls were in the 8th, my Sister then five, to the left, was in 1st grade. I'm the boy in the back row.
Four of us were cousins, all were neighbors. This fall my high school class of 48 will have our 70th year class reunion. Because of previous engagements I was not able to attend. 18 of us are still around, a few others we may have lost contact.
(B) "Silver" (Tom's Choice): Our kitchen Silver Drawer. All Stainless and Plastic rather than Silver.
In the cracker box open display are our vitamins, minerals, and medicines, one box for one day. Mrs. Jim's are the red and yellow ones, mine are the green for mornings and blue for afternoons and evenings. Mrs. Jim keeps her night meds in the bathroom towel pantry.

Letter "R" -- -- Weekend Roundup
THE EIGHTEENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES - The Letter "R" Prompts are: (A) Starts with the Letter "R"; (B) "Rustic" (Tom's Choice); (C) A Favorite; 
These cars belonged to members of our former Montgomery Early Ford V8 Club. From left to right, a 1934 Ford Roadster, a 1934 Ford Three Window Coupe, and a 1932 Ford Coupe. My car, not showing, was a 1950 Ford Tudor. Cars eligible for this club were Ford vehicles regardless of body style or type, i.e. pickup trucks and Mercury cars, etc.
At the right is a better picture of the Restored '34 Ford Coupe. I have sold my '50 Ford six years ago now. I am also about ready to sell my mom's pristine 74 Ford Mustang II as a part of our down sizing. It only has 67K miles, the lowest mileage car we own.
(D) A Lagniappe: I also loved studying Paul's Letter to the Romans from William Barclay' "The Daily Study Bible Series".

(B) "Rustic" (Tom's Choice): Tomorrow, October 30, is my Birthday. I am becoming Rustic myself, it will be a lucky number a bit shy of 90. Hint, it was "the number" of our Modified Stock 1934 Ford three window coupe Race car, you can search for that.
It was painted baby blue with our number painted on both doors and the sloping trunk. Nothing could show as modified, even the engine, i.e. no dual carburetors, obviously a much newer engine, etc. Trimmed fenders, stronger bumpers, dual exhaust, plexiglass windshields and other window glass removed .

(C) A Favorite: This is one of my favorite toys, the educated Monkey. He is a mechanical calculator, he helped me with my 'Rithmetic in learning my Multiplication Table. His Right foot is to be placed over a number you have and the Left place the multiplier. His board will be showing the answer.
My Educated Monkey is also old, Rustic? He was not new, rather a hand-me-down toy when I was in the early grades studying Math. That would make him well over 100 years old. My son thought that I had lost the monkey and so he found and bought me another on eBay. Now I have two, I ought to be well "educated" also.
I loved learning the basics in grade school, Reading, 'Riting, and 'Rithmetic.

We met at the New Hope Baptist Church in Elmer, Louisiana, for Homecoming 2006. Only Mema had been able to come to the family reunion the week before in North Louisiana, so this was a second reunion oppertunity for them.

I forgot to ask if the original restaurant in New Orleans had reopened yet after being devastated by Hurricane Katrina (link). [This is pulled from a 2006 post, you will have to imagine these folk aging 14 years (link to 2006 post)].
(D) Reflections: Parked water taxis at the Dubai Harbor. We were headed toward the dock riding in one like these.

Bonus Questions:
1. What is your favorite "K" word? Mine was hard to decide. I settled on Kind. My MIL, Mrs. Jim's mother had a favorite Bible Scripture verse that she taught to all of her preschooler Sunday morning Bible class. It was "Be ye kind one to another..."
She once came into her room one morning and two boys were fighting. She asked them, "Boys, boys, do you know what Ephesians 4:32 KJV says?" One replied, "Yes, Ma'am, we know but we just ain't doing it."
2. Tell about one of your experiences with water travel. We like to do the "Transition Cruises" offered by the cruise lines. Our first was from Fort Lauderdale to Los Angeles through the Panama Canal. It and Princess below both were sailing for over two weeks.
Then we have done several to Europe on the Princes line. Our favorite there was on the small ship, the Pacific Princes, from New York City to Brittan. It stopped at Halifax, Newfoundland, three stops in Iceland, and two stops at Scotland, then it cruised on to Dover, England.

(B) "Keepsake" (Tom's Choice): This picture is a Keepsake, from 2006. Left to right is Viola (Mema, Mrs. Jim's mother), Gracie (a cousin by marriage), Louvenia, Oma, and Ethel. All of them were born and grew up in Central Louisiana. They all still lived there, except for Mema, who lived in Texas near us. All were widowed, all have died since 2006.

The service was good, the guest minister, Dr. Joe Kite, gave a fiery sermon. He was about a year older than me, both of us slightly younger than Methuselah. He had a keen sense of humor. Since he didn't know us, he looked our way a lot; sure he didn't want to miss an opportunity for a convert.
The piano player played like church music should be played in a Louisiana country church. Her grandmother was a cousin of some sorts to the five cousins.
