Letter "G" -- Weekend Roundup and Street/Reflections

THE SEVENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES - The Letter "G" Prompts are: (A) Starts with the Letter "G"; (B) "Great" (Tom's Choice); (C) A Favorite; (D) Street/Reflections; and (E) A Lagniappe.

 - - - -

(A) Starts with the Letter "G":  Good.  This is the "ALL THINGS GOOD"** Store in Stellenbosch, South Africa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stellenbosch.  We did not stop there but we can imagine what they sold there.**

(B) "Great" (Tom's Choice):   Our U.S.A. Olympic Team was GREAT at the 2020-22 Japan Olympics this year.

(C) A Favorite   Giraffe also starts with "G".  Today I'm  posting again some pictures taken when we took our youngest granddaughter, KP,  to the Houston (Texas) Zoo.  We had purchased some giraffe food but she was not yet two at that time and didn't want to be in the giraffe's nose.

      _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

(D) Street/
Reflections:   Our backyard neighbors had a birthday party going last weekend.

The balloons are behind the overgrown bush and we get a better view from the Reflection in their back Texas picture window.

(E)
A Lagniappe:  After my haircut Monday we stopped in at our World Market and this wall plate display caught my attention.  An old pickup is hauling their Texas sized Halloween pumpkin home, the whole family is Grateful for that.

** Note:  I am thinking that is is a Christian book store, liberally quoting Romans Chapter 8, Verse 12 of the Bible.  Google has this to say for my search:  https://www.google.com/search?q=%22all+things+good%22+Bible&oq=%22all+things+good%22+Bible&aqs=edge..69i57j0i512j0i22i30l5.26843j0j1&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

The Letter "O" ~~ Rev 04 - Weekend Roundup and Reflections

The 41st issue of Weekend Roundup for this year... (THE FIFTEENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "O" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "O"; (B) A Favorite;
(C) "O" for "Over". (Tom's choice); and (D) Reflections.

(A.1) Starts with the Letter "O":  Oranges start with "O".  This is KP again showing us the Orange Fruit, Oranges.at our local Sprouts Grocery store.

(A.2) Starts with the Letter "O":  This is Our Backyard Orange Tree.  Some of the Oranges were getting ripe and I picked them.  But I have none to show now.

(B) A FavoriteOur Old House.  We bought before the building was finished and were able to make some changes.  It was our first owned house, we bought it in 1976 and sold it in 1999 when Mrs. Jim retired.

It flooded once when we owned it, 33 inches of water inside, and later at least two other times.  Here it was finishing up with remodeling after the latest flood.

(C) "O" for "Over". (Tom's choice):  Historical Moon "Over" homes.

(D) Reflections:  My Reflections here are mainly of the trees against the water.  We were Driving Over the Atchafalaya River Flood Basin.  Pretty full.  The Atchafalaya flows into the Mississippi River in the Baton Rouge area, before New Orleans.
 _ _ _ _ _ _ _

My Two Questions (you can answer just one if you'd like):

1. Has you home ever flooded?  or your car?   Our home in the picture flooded in the  1979 Claudia Tropical Flood.  We lived in Galveston County then.  We also lost three cars and a motorcycle because the water in the street was much deeper than that in our driveway.  My 1969 Ford Thunderbird may have been resurected, I know the fellow in the junk yard was going to get the motorcycle going again.

2. Do you take pictures in the grocery store, perhaps for your blog or for some other reason that you would like to write about?   If you do not take pictures in the stores why not?  I take them mostly for my blog.  A few I take because I just want to remember this event.  But then generally I cannot find the picture when I want it..

Bonus Questions:
1. What is your favorite "Oword?  "Over" is my favorite "O" word because being over is just nice.  Most times there is freedom in being over.

2. What are your thoughts about Oranges?  Often I think of Christmas because when we were small there would generally be one in our hanging stockings

The week's prompts:
(1) Starts with "L"; (2) A Favorite;  (3)  Lonely; and (4) Reflections

[L o i s  and her Hub sitting on the bench by the U.S. Flag]

(1) Starts with "L":  Little starts with "L".  The picture above (click it a couple of times to make it larger) is of my Little Sister, L o i s, sitting on the bench wearing a white sweat shirt.  She and her Hub had been visiting Duluth earlier this week and were waiting for a ship to come through the Canal.  (Not like our Port of Houston where a ship comes every few minutes, sometimes in a train or lined up waiting for their turn to come in or go out.) (L o i s in my Blog link)

[Vauxhall, London, U.K. Animal farm visit.  I think we walked there from the Kid's high rise flat on the river.  KP loved the farm animals -- Vauxhall Search blog link]

[KP was three when we visited Peppa Pig Land in 2012 -- Fun for kids and grown ups]

(1) Starts with "L":  London also starts with "L".  It is my favorite go to place, follow by Paris.  Been to both quite a few times, first in 199x, last in 2014,  That was when our younger daughter, KP, and SIL came home to stay.  My blog search, London -- See London Labels below for more

(2) A Favorite:  These are my two favorite pictures of L o i s, my favorite sister, on my blog.  There are more though, she is on my blog a lot.  BTW, I only have one sister, no brothers.
All posts using the label, "L o i s", please click.

(3)  Lonely:  Lonely Single Bananas -- the sign was a surprise at the fruit and vegetable section of our local Kroger store.

(4) Reflections: Louisiana has an Alligator Island Show where you can get close to the critters without them trying to chase you down.

Alligator Park is located in Natchitoches, Louisiana.  See and read more, click here.  It's on the way to see Mrs. Jim's sister who lives in Farmerville, Louisiana, so I'm sure if we live long enough we will stop either coming or going. Louisiana sampling link

Weekend Roundup -- 26-18 (for letter "Z")

The 26th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
The week's prompts:
(1) Starts with "Z"; (2) A Favorite; and (3) Zentor

(1) Starts with "Z":  Zero (??) might be good.  Nothing?

Zero is a very bad grade.
Zero mph means you aren't going at all.
Zero means you won't win your game though it might be a tie.
"Zero Bars" and good, I had forgotten them.  I know where a picture is but I won't steal it now.  Tomorrow is Kroger Day, I might take a picture of theirs.

Or I could show you a fence owned by my friend who has a "little ranch" near Telluride in Colorado.  It is called a "Zig Zag" fence.  The chief advantage of the Zig Zag fence is that you don't have to dig holes for the fence posts.  The shape of fence keeps I from falling down.

Or I could show you a "Zucchini squash", they are long and green.  I like mine fried with coated with just a little flour.   Here are some shots from our local "Sprouts Farmers' Market". (Googled search link) Above were the 'regular' from Mexico, to the right are some of the Organic stuff.

Other Sprouts pictures.  We mostly buy fruits and
vegetables and cereals there.  Sometimes cheese.

(2) A FavoriteKP, our youngest grandchild, finished Golf Academy today.  Afterwards there was an award ceremony on the back patio of the club house.  KP came home with three certificates and a water bottle prize.  Of course there was a "completion" award, everyone present the last day got that.

Then there were certificates to be earned.  KP won the Patty Berg Award for the Best Golf Etiquette.   Her most prized award was the Chipping Award.  She had to compete with the boys also for that.  KP chipped in a 30 foot plus chip, in to the hole.

The pictures above:  In the red shirt she is showing off her new Driver golf club. Both pictures of her in the blue, way above and here, were KP at the awards ceremony.  The fellow standing by the door was the teaching pro, the one with the had way above was one of the assistants.

(3) Xentor:  I once started a series of flash writing (short, less than a set amount of words, or letters) I was to call the "Xentor Tales" where the chief character was a man named "Xentor."

But there were just a few before Jenny, the person who wanted the short tales, stopped this feature.

The cat belongs to my BIL.

You can read most them by going to this link,
