Starts with "W": Write starts with a "W".
I write for my readers more than for myself.
For this reason, I still do the alphabet, but I'm thinking not after we reach the letter "Z" here.
Most of the four or so that respond to Tom don't return my comment left after reading theirs. I like comments from them. As I write this on Sunday night there have been NO COMMENTS left here on this blog for the last two weeks.
But most of my faithful readers are friends and relatives of whom I don't expect comments, not many at least. That said, I intend to keep on writing on weekends, kind of a report on the things that our family and I are doing. I THANK YOU VERY MUCH, you friends and relatives.
And Tom, I thank you very much too for supporting us faithful ones who respond. I may switch to another of your blogs.

Letter "D" - Friday's Weekend Roundup 10 / Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

A Favorite: Drive-in restaurants in general. Their popularity has diminished after the 1970's when air conditioning has made eating so much more comfortable on hot summer nights. This is the Prince Drive-In in Houston, which closed for quite some time, they had delicious hamburgers. Attempts are being made to rebuild the concept and delicious food, same name. We'll probable stop there again if it gets going okay.
Back in the 1950's Drive-ins were very popular, the Circle Drive-In in Lincoln, Nebraska was my favorite back when I first had a car. The building was round, with parking head-in all the way around. Carhops would take our orders and deliver the food. We were free to mingle with other eaters, it was a young people hang out. I liked their hamburgers too, my Favorite there was the Barbecue Burger.
Tom's suggestion, "Dull": This knife isn't really Dull but they get that way after they are used for a long time or be dulled by cutting something that wasn't meant to be cut with a knife. I wanted to show the pocket we got it in Switzerland for its corkscrew blade but this one will do. Mrs. Jim keeps it in a kitchen island, I don't know its history.
A Lagniappe 1: These Ducks were around us when I took the Reflection photo below. They tried me for a tasty toss-out with no luck and now they are headed towards Mrs. Jim. To the right is the little flood control Drainage Ditch and the foot bridge.

Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures: It is hard to tell what is a shadow and what is a Reflection. The Ducks show well here. At nine o'clock in the photo is a Duck flying towards me. It didn't stop though but rather flew across the street a half mile away behind me.

A Lagniappe 2: When you're running away be sure to take your faithful dog with you. It will love walking with you but if you'll let it ride in your shopping cart and it'll love you for doing that.

Letter "P" -- Weekend Roundup and Street/Reflections
THE SIXTEENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES) - the Letter "P" Prompts are: (A) Starts with the Letter "P"; (B) "Purple" (Tom's Choice); (C) A Favorite; (D) Street/Reflections; and (E) A Lagniappe.
We see here a Model A Ford Phaeton fiberglass replica. It might be the real thing but I don't know the owner to ask. There were a couple of older cars to come. Just to show you, there were a lot of golf carts. And of course we had pretty girls walking and riding.
(B) Purple (Tom's Choice): This is the first Louisiana Purple Iris bloom of the season. We had brought some bulbs with us from Bentwater when we moved to Katy and made this little bed for them.

Kids, kids, and more kids. First you see a couple being pushed in their toy John Deere Gator by an older fellow, likely a brother. Several were little and were entirely pulled or pushed and guided by a parent. Last here was the only foot propelled scooter I saw.
(A) Starts with the Letter "P": This is" a Parade, a Golf Cart Parade" with other items too. Decorated carts Rule!! We moved to Katy, Texas, from this Golfing community, three courses open year round. There the Parade was an annual Independence Day affair, usually on or around July 4. Seems all the flowers are looking great to make up for the poor weathering of the other foliage, i.e. the trees.

Bonus Questions:
(1) Tell us about any dealings you have had with Nasty Weather. We have been dealing with the unexpected Southeast Gulf Coast area cold snap. We were running the pool pump non-stop to keep it and the pool from freezing. When the lights went out the pump stopped and the pipes and one valve froze and broke. We had no heat in the house and it got down into the very low 40's inside. Good thing we had blankets. The car? The windshield cracked, that was about all. Two Blueberry bushes and three hedges died, as did our pretty Hibiscus, and the Orange tree probably also. Our Palm tree is supposed to be cold tolerant but so far it isn't looking good either.
(2) What is your favorite Word starting with "P"? Mine today will be "Pollution", because with Pollution we are slowly but increasingly ruining our Climate. In our lifetime things will get hotter in the summers and colder in the winters but we will survive. A future generation will have to be living in a man made environment. It won't be made of plastics because we will have run out of petroleum materials to make it.
(3) Anything else you were reminded of here that you would like to tell about?

Letter "K" -- Weekend Roundup
THE ELEVENTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES) - the Letter "K" Prompts are: (A) Starts with the Letter "Kooky"; (B) "Kooky" (Tom's Choice); (C) A Favorite; (D.1 & D.2) A Reflection/Street Scene and Lagniappe.

First picture is the 'food to go' kitchen. Next is the inside of the men's room. Last on the right is the outside of this building. Mrs. Jim said the women's room had stalls with curtains for doors.
Here, at Luckenbach, Texas (google link), the action is starting. We were there from about 6:00 PM to around 7:15 and this fellow was playing and singing on the stage the whole time.
Mrs. Jim was waiting for me to come back from the men's room. The last picture says the singer is taking a break and that 'all that's left is us chickens.' Happy picnicking with your food on those tables. Shoo the chickens off first.

Answer, if you believe the Bible is true, the chicken. Genesis says that God created the fowls, it doesn't say that he made eggs. He made chickens so that the chicken could make her eggs.

(C) A Favorite: Keeping with Texas Spring Tradition, this Redbud Tree that we found on our Wednesday's walk decided to bloom. Note the brown grass due to our recent cold, very cold. But the Redbud Tree stood ready to bloom.

(D.2) Street Photo and another Lagniappe: Where I broke my Kneecap, at Powerscourt Garden, Ireland. I fell on these steps going down the hill into the garden, the Young Lady sitting there and another fellow helped me get up. Bonus Questions:
(1) Tell about your accident or other some other unusual experience away from home that you'd like to share. Besides breaking my kneecap, I would tell about backing our rental SUV in Italy into a bruiser monster truck double parked behind me. Several witnesses told me to hurry and leave before the owner came back. Fearing an altercation by judging the frenzied motioning we did leave, quickly. The rental people passed this damage on as I had noted previous damage there at the time we picked it up.
(2) What is your favorite Word starting with "K"? Mine today will be "King", because at my age people have started treating me like a "King".
