Weekend Letter "I"; Icicles, Inside, Ingredients (Hot Dog)

The 6th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
the Letter "I". Prompts are:
(A) Starts with "I"; (B) A Favorite; (C) Inside; and (D) Reflection(s).

.
(A) Starts with "I": Ain't she cute! We got down to 22°F that night here, so we dripped the outside faucets.  [Adi was our Beagle dog, she died in 2012.]

Icicles start with "I", so look closely for the icicles. The big one, about 18 inches long, fell from the faucet and broke. I have a piece of it sitting on the sprinkler pipe. The other icicles (not Adi's) are on that weed to Adi's left, your right.

It was just recently that day in 2007 on Groundhog day when Adi saw her shadow (
picture link). I had it mixed up there, the groundhog saw his shadow and was scared. He ran back into his hole for six more weeks of winter.

You might have to click on the picture above to make it large enough to see the icicles. Another picture where she didn't look so happy
is here.

Lastly, if you're from Florida or southern California and don't know what icicles are,
go here to Wikipedia. We didn't have any hanging from the roof because we didn't run the hose up there.

And it didn't get cold enough here this year for icicles.  2007 may have been our last year.

(B) A Favorite:  Hot Dogs are my favorite (I know, H's were the thing to post last week), but I hadn't eaten or not even made this one yet.

Ingredients were two hot dogs, sliced and cut to fit my toasted hot dog bun scraps, one and a half slices of American cheese, ample amounts of sauerkraut, and mustard.  Mrs. Jim adds sweet pickle relish to hers, just a little bit.  It pulls out the other flavors.

Before the mustard I heat the array (they were already fairly hot by heating individually before assembly) in the microwave until the cheese begins to melt.

[click picture for larger view, it's really pretty]

(C) Inside: When it's cold outside stay inside.  We did have a little snow last year, no icicles though.  No snow either this year, we had a little frost so far.

(D.a) Reflection(s):  This wintery pool picture above is also a very pretty Reflection.  [click on pictures for a larger viewing size]

(D.b) Reflection(s):  Last Saturday night we attended the musical stage show, "Mamma Mia" (read about it here), at our Hobby Center for Performing Arts in Houston (named after  former Texas lieutenant governor and Houston businessman, William P. Hobby, Jr.) .  I really didn't enjoy the going down there and driving in the dark but we made it with all the paint staying nice on the car.

We got there a bit early and I happened to notice all the Reflections in the glass windows of the building.  While waiting to be admitted to the auditorium I took some pictures.  The side picture on the right shows down on the ground floor and some of the height perspective.

The upper may be the best of all I took.  It shows the traffic, pedestrians, and some of the taller buildings THROUGH the windows.  But it also shows a bunch of us INSIDE the lobby on ours, we were on the 4th floor of six, but walked down to the front part of the mezzanine.

Adi Can . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Have her own icicle

Letter "I" -- Friday's Weekend Roundup 09 / Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

 - Tom's posting prompts: This "Week's Prompts, Starts with "I."
   A Favorite. - "I"ce.
 - James' wishes for our Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures
 _ _ _ _

Starts with "I": Ain't she cute! "Icicle " starts with "I". We got down to 22°F that 2007 night here, so we dripped the outside faucets. Look closely for the Icicles. The big one, about 18 inches long, fell from the faucet and broke. I have a piece of it sitting on the sprinkler pipe. The other icicles (not Adi's) are on that weed to Adi's left, your right.

Adi died in 2012.  She and I were a Pet The
rapy Team.  She loved to visit the elderly and also children.  We regularly visited an Alzheimer Wing of the assisted living facility most residents loved her too.  She also was a "Reading Dog", we helped children learn to improve their reading skills.

A Favorite:  The horses here are purebred Icelandic horses.  They have a carefully guarded strain.  Part of that guard is to keep horses from another country from coming in.  Furthermore, once an Icelandic horse leaves the country it is very hard, and often impossible to bring these horses back into the country.

The horses are beautiful.  They are pictures I took from our tour bus window last June during our Iceland cruise stops.  We had three stops in Iceland from our Transatlantic, Pacific Princes ship, cruise from NYC to London.  We also stopped in Halifax and made two more stops in northern Scotland.  You can read more about the Icelandic horses here.

Tom's word choice, "Ice":  Blue Bell is our favorite brand of Ice Cream.  Blue Bell originated in Texas but now has spread fairly well over the U.S.  We mostly buy the Homemade Vanilla and the Peppermint with Chocolate chips.

Kroger has a nice store brand Ice Cream that we also like, Kroger Private Selection.  Of those English Toffee Caramel is our Favorite

Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures:  I had hoped the red roses on the two sides of the pool would reflect.  But they didn't.  I think my Red Eye filter killed them.

A Lagniappe Here are three other pictures that I took on one of our Iceland stops.  The snowcapped mountains at the bottom were taken from the ship pointing towards the mainland.  We were somewhere near the Artic Circle then; we did cross into it.

Letter "I" -- Friday's Weekend Roundup 12 and Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures

This Week's Prompts: Starts with "I." A Favorite.
For Tom, "I"ce".
For James, Reflections and/or Street/Candid Captures.
 _ _ _ _

You can see the frost build up and it was
defrosted a couple of weeks ago.

Starts with "I":  Our small freezer is beginning to be an Icebox, as it fills with frost way too fast.  I think perhaps the door seal has worn.  Icebox starts with the letter "I".  Read here, in Wikipedia, about the early iceboxes, "the non-mechanical refrigeration appliance".  I don't remember ever seeing one, as we lived on a farm and didn't get electricity until 1938.  At the same time the folks purchased a refrigerator.

A Favorite: These are a couple of Ivory Carvings the Mrs. Jim inherited from a retired military officer's wife.  They sit on a bookcase shelf in our living room now.  Ivory cuttings are the death of the elephant many times because the illegal hunters kill for them.    [I may take another picture in the morning with better light.]

.

For Tom, the word, "Ice":  Ain't she cute! We got down to 22°F that night in 2007 shown here, so we dripped the outside faucets.  [Adi was our Beagle dog, she died in 2012.]

Look closely for the icicles. The piece of
Ice you see sitting on the pipe was from a big icicle about 18 inches long that fell from the faucet and broke. I have a piece of it sitting on the sprinkler pipe. The other icicles are on that weed to Adi's left, your right.

A Lagniappe:

"Blue Bell Light Homemade Vanilla" was our favorite for a long time.  Back when Blue Bell was shut down due to a bacteria run loose in their plants.  Finally, this Light variety, was the last to start production, months behind the regular flavors.  It was also Adi's favorite. (link). But after the COVID Blue Bell stopped making it.  That was when we stopped eating Blue Bell brand altogether.

For James, Reflections and/or Street/Candid CapturesAdi and I found this pretty pool on our walk this back in 2008.There was not a cloud in the sky that morning!
