We are flying our home flag today for her
U.S. America is flying our flags half mast in tribute to Queen Elizabeth III
A Lagniappe #1: Our friends from Towcester, Northamptonshire, England, invited us to watch with them for the passing of Queen Elizabeth on her way to open Parliament. "We didn't see the little mouse but we did see the Queen. I tell people that she waved to me. She was in her carriage on her way to address Parliament on their opening day. Just our luck, I had brought my camera but wouldn't you know on this particular day I left the battery at the flat in its charger. "So this picture I did not take but rather it is a British press release photo which I photographed with my camera. . . " (Read more and see more of our London of Spring 2012 holiday here.) Note: We also saw her, coming out in her Land Rover from the Balmoral Castle, we were going in and so we pulled to the side while she was passing us. Mrs. Jim and I liked her a lot, as many times as we have been to the U.K., she seemed to us as our Queen also. May she RIP.
Starts with "J": Jeep starts with "J". Seems we have at least one Jeep on every street on all the blocks around here. Lately this model is most seen around here; it belongs to our neighbor.
Growing up, as they came available for folk to purchase after the WW II, I thought I would like one. I also became attached to the Jeepster.
A Favorite 1: This is one of my two favorite Jeeps I have posted on my blogs; it was parked outside a small bungalow in Key West, Florida. We walked past this Jeep every morning but never saw anyone near it. I'm thinking it belongs to a person who likes to take his Sunday car out in the Boone Docks Could be a lady, I'd guess in her early thirties.
A Favorite 2: A local Jeep, parked in the grocery store lot in Conroe, Texas. I wouldn't leave my dog unattended there in the back. If you tried to take Adi she probably would have gone (she died in 2013). The one here looks a little afraid but would probably go also.
A Lagniappe #2: Down the street is this Jeep which is parked every now and then in the street for a few days. It seems to me as looking pretty worn and roughly used. We call using the Jeep for fun, climbing hills, over rocks, and through large muddy puddles "Jeeping".
Our friends and neighbor when we lived at Montgomery bought this Jeep on the right so he could go Jeeping with his son and family. Next he bought the RV so he could stay nights out in the rough with the rest of the Jeepers. Before he and wife had to spend the evenings and nights at a local motel. Our son also has an older Jeep that he drives as a personal car. He bought it new back in the 70's. But he doesn't take it Jeeping. (More here)
A Lagniappe #3: To see more of Jim's Posts here with Jeeps, click here. Count them: Posts with Jeeps _____ Total Jeeps to be seen ____
Tom's choice, "Juice": O.J. is abbreviation of Orange Juice. This is the Juice Bottle that we just finished drinking Wednesday. Mrs. Jim wants to use the Juice Bottle now for watering her plants. Plugged into the outlet is our coffee maker and the empty Wendy's take out glass which I use to place the grounds and filters for the garbage after brewing.
Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures: We think this is Lisbon Correction: This is Funchal, Portugal, near Lisbon, as we pulled out from a day spent at the docks. Mrs. Jim and I were quarantined with the COVID and could not go off into town nor to Lisbon.
I suspect the Yellow vehicle at the lower left is a Jeep, not sure what model.

The Letter "Y" -- Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The fifty-first issue this week of my WEEKEND ROUNDUP postings and ...
(THE TWENTY-FIFTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "Y" Prompts are: (A) Starts with the Letter "Y"; (B) "Yellow" (Tom's Choice); (C) A Favorite; (D) Reflections; and (E) A Lagniappe.
_ _ _ _
(A.1) Starts with "Y" Year starts with the letter "Y". This is Mrs. Jim's Christmas Cactus blooming very nicely for Christmas This Year, the best it's bloomed so far.
(A.2) Starts with "Y": YVNE Starts with the letter "Y". YVNE is ENVY spelled backwards and is spelled by the little duck in the bottom right of this card. Had we exchanged BDay cards this year this is the one she would have picked for me. My birthday was in October.
I had seen a rack with Yellow Stocking Hats at the Love Truck Stop station where we parked going to Baton Rouge Wednesday, see my last picture below, but when I came out of the Men's room I discovered that I had left my smart phone camera in the car.
So no Yellow Stocking Hat picture this year, probably none ever ever.
(B.1) "Yellow" (Tom's Choice): I saw this Yellow Jeep and turned around in the lane to get its picture.
(B.2) I followed this Yellow Camaro a bit yesterday. Just about the time I went into a parking lot to take a picture of the Yellow Jeep above the Yellow Camaro got into the left turn lane and I could have been beside it for a better picture.
Adi is retiring from Pet Partners
.

.
(C) A Favorite: Adi, my Beagle Dog, will always be my favorite. She was Young when I got her from our daughter, we soon became buddies, even so far as forming a Pet Therapy Team together. She is also a co-writer on this blog (Adi's meme ). Adi died in 2013 of old age.
(D) Reflections: Sorry, there isn't a reflection picture here. But I think they aren't appreciated very much anyway by the other folk posting them. They really don't visit around.
(E) A Lagniappe. Mrs. Jim's 100-year-old cousin Mary died this Monday. Her funeral was this Thursday in Baton Rouge. It is 298 miles from our house in the west near I-10, so we stayed there overnight Wednesday as it was too far to drive early in the morning and then back that same evening. nur
Mary was still driving, teaching her Sunday school class, and nurturing her neighbors with her friendly manor, her help for them, and for being a nice friend.

Bonus Questions:
(1) What would you say that the average lifespan in years runs in your family? "Do you have an expectation?" My father lived to be 97, Mom died at age 89, my average of these two would be at 93. I had expected to be blind by age 85 but I now think that won't happen, possibly older still though.
(2) What is your favorite Word with an "Y"? Mine today will be "either 'You' or 'Yogurt'", I really do like "Yellow", especially on motor vehicles to watch, not to own. But since Tom requested that we use it and that I have used it several times before as my "Y" Word I will skip it for this year. I am not a big Yogurt eater, I'd rather have ice cream, but I do like for You to be reading my blogs. Right now I am running

(3) Anything else here you would like to tell about? I would have liked to have posted a picture of a Yellow School Bus parking lot but was driving by the right time to catch a picture when most were parked there. Another time soon I will post a Yellow School Bus field at one of the schools.

Weekend Letter "J";
The 10th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
the Letter "J". Prompts are:
(A) Starts with "J"; (B) A Favorite; (C) Jump; and (D) Reflection(s).
(A) Starts with "J": Today I've brought you a collection of my nine Jeeps I have handy in my files. I've posted them before on a Friday meme series so If you've seen them already that is the way it goes. [click on the pictures for larger sized viewing]
(B) A Favorite: I like Jeeps, this green Jeep we found in Key West is my favorite. But I've taken owning a Jeep off my bucket list. I did have possession of one for a week and a half in Maui. It was red. And my sons has an older Jeep.
My love affair with Jeeps when a neighbor when I was growing bought one of the first ones ones civilians could buy after WWII. It was a dark dull green color and looked like the military Jeeps. Willys and now Chrysler have made most of the Jeeps.
a Ford army jeep courtesy of Wikipedia freebee (Ford GPW)
But during WWII Ford also made army Jeeps. I would have liked a Surplus one back when I belonged to the Early Ford Club, any Ford owner of Fords from 1932 through 1953. For you slightly GearHead folk, those 'could have had' a Flathead Ford V8 engine.
(C) Jump: I like to watch cats jump high, extremely high in proportion for their height. This is my BIL's cat. They also like to sit atop the refrigerator as they give off heat that comes up from behind. I know if he had a Jeep the cat would Jump on top.
(D) Reflection(s): Look into the windshield and your will see a reflection of a vehicle in the adjacent carnival ride. This was taken of our granddaughter, KP, at the Hyde Park at London, U.K.
Other Jeeps you might like:
A London Jeep
My son has a red jeep like this
Pink decorations on this one
A friends Jeep for when he went Jeeping with his son
If I bought a Jeep today it likely would be Yellow

Weekend Roundup -- 10-18 (for letter "J")
The 10th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year...
The week's prompts:
(1) Starts with "J"; (2) A Favorite; and (3) Joy; and (4) Lagniappe.
(1) Starts with "J": Jam starts with "J". This Jam is special, kind of. Our neighbor gave it to Mrs. Jim a few weeks age, it is really good. The family is Canadian and they make it in the man's hometown. There they grow the Saskatoon Berries and specialize in making Jam.
Juice also starts with "J". Here is the Juice Bar at our cabin in the woods. You can read more in my Favorites below. Hint: we camped out, but not very rough camping.
(2) A Favorite: Juicy Fried Catfish is one of my favorites. From the Old Hickory Café in Farmerville, Louisiana (north central La.), here is the $7.99 plate, well, part of it. I had eaten some of my half. There were five pieces of catfish, Fries, baked beans, hush puppies, and cold slaw. Mrs. Jim and I shared and then we also shared her Juicy cheeseburger.
[click pictures for larger viewing]

(3) Joy: Was staying in a cabin in the woods in North Louisiana. We spent four nights at this cabin on Lake D'Arbonne, Louisiana (link).
It was a part of the Lake D'Arbonne State Park. We've stayed there before and even had a few of Mrs. Jim's family reunion there.
This time there were six of us, Mrs. Jim and Sister and Brother and their spouses and us.
Most meals we cooked there in the cabin. The ladies had prepared the menus before we came and all brought groceries accordingly.
(4) Lagniappe: Jeep and it's logo are our car extra for the week.
I found this Green Jeep in Key West, Florida. We would walk from our hotel to the hot spots down town. Just about every day we would walk by this pretty one.
In 1945 one of our neighbors bought one of the first Jeep sold to civilians. It was also green but not this pretty. Since then I always wanted a Jeep but never did get one.
Probably some time I will get a 1:16 cast iron Army Jeep for my car collection. Did you know that both Ford and Willys both made Jeeps during WWII?
The closest I had was a Red Jeep to drive for almost a week. We and the some of the Youth from our church were on a mission trip to Florida. There we held a six day Bible Camp at Mona Kia State Park on the Big Island, staying in the cabins there.
Before we started the mission we stayed in Honolulu for a few days and then on Maui for another week. There we rented four Red Jeeps and I was the driver for one. We went all over the Island, even visiting the Lindbergh Family ranch.
p.s. My son, Mike has a Red Jeep, has had it for years.
