The Letter "A" -- Weekend Roundup and Reflections
The twenty-seventh issue of Weekend Roundup for this year, 2020...
(THE fIRST LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)

(A) Contains the Letter "A": "All" contains and starts with the Letter "A". It is one of the shorter "A" words and I was surprised to see it on the company name sign along the highway southeast of Cape Town, South Africa. Africa also starts with "A". [Note: these pictures were taken through out closed bus windows.]
(B) "Architecture": More scenes as we road out of Cape Town. Cape Town is a booming place, very modern.
(C) A Favorite: After Apartheid, two more "A" Words. This really is not a favorite that I like (Oxymoron??) but a familiar scene over all of South Africa that I want to remember. Most every town has a community of folk, no longer discriminated against by law, but still super very disadvantaged economically.
The homes are built out of what can be arranged to get, often scrape lumber. Many have no electricity or running water. Also not a planned community with an organized street plan or home placement.
(D) Reflections: This another look at a part of where we walk. Second picture is a slightly cropped display for closer large size view (click on picture, click on THAT picture if you have a "+" as your cursor or other visual means, or just try it).
The primary reason for all the green areas is for flood control. We had a few inches of rain the day before I took these photos.

Saturday was hair cutting day for Katrin. Mrs. Jim is learning pretty good using on-line videos and the video that came with her clipper set (andis).
It all came out good, no nicks, cuts, or scraps. And Katrin didn't bite her either.Cartoon: (

I received this award from my friend Bob of The Diary Of An English Gardener and so I am now going to pass it on to a few other brilliant blog owners I love to visit.
I'm not to much into awards but they are nice to get and really do make you feel good about your blogging. Even if everything said about you might not be completely true.

I`m nominating the following people, who have great (brilliant--English here) blogs with a bit of flattery:
Rachel: The very first reader that I know about. Rachel left the first comment on my blog, I really appreciated that comment. I like best Rachel's Sunday morning church sign posts which I try to imitate every once in a while. Mrs. Jim and I met Rachel at Blogstock '08 this summer.
Cliff Morrow: He was the second that I know of to read my blog. At least he also left the second comment. Cliff and friend, Ralph, were the organizers of the Blogstock '08 we attended this summer. It was great, thirteen of us bloggers and our families and friends all go together in Cliff's home in the Nebraska cornfields.
Doug: He stimulates my thinking every day with a word which often I am not familiar with. We as readers are encouraged to write a clever note in a comment about this word or the definitions he used. I copied this feature to some extent with my current Word of the Day. His weekend posts are literary in nature and have some very interesting reading. Besides all that he has a nice beagle dog like I do.
Janell: A blogging friend who is also a hard working lady holding down a full-time job. She has horses and just recently went on a several day trail ride. I was fortunate to have met Janell at Blogstock '08.
Felisol: She is my blogging friend from Norway. Felisol writes a very nice journal entry about once or twice a month and participates in Ruby Red Tuesday posts (as do Janell and myself). Her posts are very educational as well as interesting. Beside that, she and hubby, Gunnar, have volunteered to drive Mrs. Jim and me all over Norway when we decide to travel there.
Terry: Terry remembers the birthdays and anniversary of everyone she knows who blogs as well as her family members. She is very kind to Adi, Amber, and Katrin as well. Terry helps immensely with her parents-in law as well. Terry lives in Canada.
Lori: I love to read Lori's blog. She is so full of ambition and does so many different things, work, church, family, neighbors, and on and on. I would be tired by noon to be on her schedule. Lori didn't slow down much even when she has been on some very powerful medicine.
Putz: Mr. Putz doesn't comment very often on this blog but is a regular reader. He is also a regular reader over at my Ask Dr. Jim (blog). He is very faithful and writes a comment on almost every entry I write there.
I have quite a few other loyal readers on my JIM'S LITTLE PHOTO PLACE blog but since this award was made on this blog I will make the award to readers of this one.
That was hard, cutting off at seven. One might not carry through with this so I did eight names. I hope Bob doesn't care.

My Aussie friend, Merle of Merle's Third Try, has given me an award ~~ "5 blogs that make my day" Thank you very much Merle.
Besides reading her short journal entry, you can read the funny, new, used and abused, and blonde jokes on her blog. Send her your favorite and she will post it! If I live long enough, I will make a scrap book of all her blonde jokes. She has about all of them on her blog posts. .

These folks are Mrs. Jim's cousins from Orange, Texas. We were just closing down after Mrs. Jim's family reunion in Louisiana, Sandra and Everett were helping to close down the place. Sandra is a long-time reader of this blog.

I was given a couple of awards recently and it is now past time to send them back out.There is one thing about awards, you can't just keep them, you are supposed to pass them around. Like the chain letter principle, it may be a big race to see who can populate the world with the creation you designed the fastest. You can post the awards in your side bar if you choose. They may need to be resized.
1. My first award is the "You Make The World A Better Place" presented to me Merle of Merle's Third Try. 
So here is a big thank you, Merle, for giving me this award. Merle's blog, in case you haven't followed my link over there before is designed to cheer the readers up. She truly deserves the "You make the world a better place" award.
Her blog has a short journal entry, then one of those nice feel good stories like we all get in the e-Mail. This is followed by a lot of jokes, she even buys joke books so she won't run out or duplicate herself too often. Each blog ends up with a series of quotes from notable persons.
I love her blonde jokes, I didn't know there were so many.
