~~ Friday’s Hunt v.4.06 -- "F" is for ...

Friday's Hunt for the week of August 11th:
(1) Starts with F; (2) New; and (3) Self (portrait)

(1) Starts with "F: FFF, or Fine Feathered Friends and Fine Finned Friends.

Mrs. Jim, KP, and I visited the Houston Zoo on November 1, 2011.  KP, here peeking around and through the bridge, was two at the time and really enjoyed seeing the animals and fishes.

I was at the Fort Bend Country Library, our branch, and happened upon these feathery guys.  Mother led the pack but the little ones scrambled for drinks.

These feathered folks are hanging out in our front flower bed.  Mrs. Jim has been giving them water.  Probably not needed now that we had seven (7) inches of rain last night.

We call them doves but they are much smaller than the ones we had north of town.  At first I though the larger one was the mother and the smaller one a babies about ready to fly.  Now we are thinking that they might be a pair, making four.

They don't seem to want to habit this nest in the gable.  We have not seen them fly.

(2) New: This is the New -- It is a 2017 Cadillac XTS SUV that we were GIVEN as a loaner while ours was being repaired.  It is for sale of course, as it only had 287 miles on it when we drove out the dealer's driveway.

Now it has 2000 and a few miles. We drove it to Jackson, Tennessee, and back last week to see my BIL and out SIL.

 .....  and This is the Old -- Guess which one we kept.

Of course we are keeping the Old, we don't buy New and haven't during our marriage of 44 years.  The Old one has 106K miles on it, a 2011 Cadillac DTS.  The power steering pump went out on it and also the front suspension had a problem that didn't keep us from driving.  Supposedly it is all under warranty.

Update:  It was all covered by warranty with the loaner car, a replacement power steering pump, a conduit system that is fancier than a hose and including the towing and a front end alignment.  Plus a nice wash job.

(3) Self (portrait):

(3.a)  A couple of Selfies of me taken in Spring 2014:
-- me, my hand, holding a half eaten brat and sauerkraut sandwich, purchased at London, UK's, Borough Market;
-- then me with camera taking this 'mirror shot', Mrs. Jim, and KP all eating "on the street" at a Vauxhall (London, UK) standup eatery--I had fish and chips, Mrs. Jim had the hamburger and FF's, and KP had chicken nuggets.

(3.b)  A couple more older Selfies from 2014:

Not my driving license picture, this one was taken during an 'honor Veterans breakfast' at KP's school.  No place like Texas!!

Older picture (a selfie) I wish was on my DL, I was much younger then.
Proof that I went to the DPS. I went to Huntsville, Texas, to get it done.
They are friendly down home, small town people, possibly with
a "large print" eye test chart.  The wait there was only 20 minutes.
My new license was for seven years and expires October 30, 2022.
That license will only last for two years due to age discrimination (getting Old).

(3.c) Selfie shots appearing on my blog, including these shown:

The Letter "H" ~~ Rev 04 - Weekend Roundup and Reflections

The 34th issue of Weekend Roundup for this year... (THE EIGHTH  LETTER FOR THIS SERIES)
- the Letter "H" Prompts are:
(A) Starts with the Letter "H"; (B) A Favorite; (C) "H" for "Half" (Tom's choice); and (D) Reflections.

     Wikipedia Photo copied (left)     My picture at Kroger Grocery (right)
[click on any picture here to see it larger, click it again for super large]

(A) Starts with the Letter "H": Honeydew Melons starts with "H".

Home Goods store picture (left)  and  My Kroger Grocery store, outside (both are my photos)

(B) A Favorite:  Halloween is one of my favorite Holidays.  Store decorations rule although Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday stuff is also out.

Note also the Reflections in the store window.  The Clouds are very pretty here (click to enlarge).  If you enlarge it to Super Large, by doing a second click, you will see that I am in the Left Side, taking the picture.  Hence an unknown until posting Selfie.

(C) "H" for "Half" (Tom's choice):  This is also a Reflection.  Half this strip center row of offices is taken up by an Urgent Care facility and a Pet Doctor Clinic.

The other Half contains a Little Caesar's Pizza place,  a small Pilates exercise studio, and a Kolache Factory store.

(D) Reflection(s):  I have finally found a "Perfect" Men's Public Restroom, I give it a FIVE (5) on my restroom rating scale of one, horrible to five, absolutely perfect).  Five because every restroom function pertaining to the public equipment can be used without touching any of hardware, it is all 'automatic'.  And because both of the two other plumbing choices are also auto operate.  Well is one sits down, pulling the lid up or putting it down is manual.

The other part of the rating depends upon cleanliness, this one is also spotless. Looking the other way in the mirror would be a showing of outside the big window.  This is on the second floor, the blinds were all open but every other building visible was only one story.  The ladies' does not have windows as it in an inside room.  So I have been told.
 _ _ _

My Two Questions for this week (you can answer just one if you wish):

1. My first Reflection picture (the one with the Ceramic Pumpkins)has a cloud reflecting. Do you like to see things in the cloud formations. Do you see anything in this one of mine? I see a Map of the Florida Keys or of the Hawaiian Islands.

2. What is your feeling about Public Restrooms? I generally rate them mentally.  You can check a few of these by clicking on the "Restroom Rating" 'Label' at the bottom of this posting.

Bonus Questions:
1. What is your favorite "H" word?

2. Do you ever wander by accident into the opposite sex's restrooms?  I have.  Some days I am less likely than others.  I leave really fast when I realize (and ask for Pardon if there are ladies inside).  Mrs. Jim also points out the Men's room to me if she is headed towards the Ladies'.

~~ Friday’s Hunt v.3.09-- "I" is for ...

Please note that today's Hunt is my 2001st post on this blog.
My "Jim's Little Photo and Poem Place" blog is sitting at 1032. Link

Friday’s Hunt for the week of March 3rd:
(1) Starts with "I"; (2) Week's Favorite; and (3) Nose

(1) Starts with "I": "I" could write a book about this One Letter Word.  But don't worry, I won't do that.  Before we go through the Two Letter Words that start with "I" I will ask a bit of trivia.
1st, how many Two Letter Words begin with the letter "I"?  Answer, five (I'm betting that you missed one).
2nd, how many two letter words are in the English language? Answer, 101.
Highlight the word "Answer" and the blank area grouping after the word "Answer" to check your guess.

Here goes:

Letter "X" -- -- Weekend Roundup and Street/Reflections

THE TWENTY-FOURTH LETTER FOR THIS SERIES - The Letter "X" Prompts are: (A) Starts with the Letter "X"; (B) "eXtra Special" (Tom's Choice); (C) A Favorite; (D) Street/Reflections; and (E) A Lagniappe.

- - - -

(A) The Letter "X":  Today "X" is for "Crossing".  Like the signs at Railroad Crossings.  I'm at the crossing, which way do I want to go?

I went straight ahead. (photos are screen shots of g o o g l e  maps of Springville, California, except the Crossing Signal light is mine)

(B) "eXtra Special" (Tom's Choice):   "Extra, Extra, Special . . . !"

(C) A Favorite:   The Worst Selfie I've ever taken.

October 3, 2019, in South Africa outside Cape Town, we were headed to a picnic lunch at a winery.  The food was super, a five course lunch, but forgettable.  Guess I  should  have looked at the other pictures for a hint.

(D) Street/Reflections:   A Walk Picture in the flood prevention/retention depression beside the mailboxes.

(E) A Lagniappe.  Walmart "Wall of Honor" for Memorial Day.   I took it "Specially" for last week's "W" post.  But I did otherwise on the posting side of my plan for it.

Note:  You can tell there is more stuff to tell and show for "W's" than for "X's".  Too many for one post, even some left for next time.

Letter "A" ~~ Friday's Weekend Roundup 11 / Reflections and-or Street/Candid Captures

Boo!!  There should be a photo, my first one, pasted below and with my first Letter "A" photo.  It may not show up on your face book, not here or below but is the one you just clicked on to get here if you came using that path.  Sorry, I can't get it fixed to show correctly.

    Welcome to my starting post to Roundup and Reflections 11, I hope to finish one for most every Friday's goodies.

 - This Week's Prompts  Starts with "A."  "A" Favorite.  Tom's choice, "A"long.
 - James' request, "Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures."
 - We are starting my 11th series of Blogging through the Alphabet with Tom.
 _ _ _ _

My photos and Writings are of "A" words, "Ahead", "Along", and "After", as seen in these photos taken through a vehicle's (tour bus) window.

Starts with "A":   Ahead starts with "A".  Ahead of us on Main Street of a small town, on our way to Corleone, Italy, was this heard of sheep being driven through town.

. . . . .         [click on picture for larger view] [again for larger still]

Tom's choice, '"A"long':   Along the road, beside the road, were these vultures gathered here to visit a deer that was killed by a car.

My favorite bird, my favorite poem.  [taken from our car window, we stopped for it]
I wrote it to stand alone without the photo, perhaps a deceased down and out lady?

"A" Favorite:  After we had gone and now came back, this Heron was sitting no more. Only a pile of feathers and perhaps some bones remained for us to see when we returned a few days later.

I dabble in writing poems, many are posted on my other active blog, a few are here.  This poem was my tribute to this brave creature:

The Friend I Miss

We met there on the bridge one early morn
Admired your beauty always when I passed
Always thinking of the hard life you had
Friend my dear I miss you now very much

You've gone away I'm guessing in the morn
You were laying there lifeless on the side
Brave, you died a death you never deserved
Each time I pass I pause and wonder why

I miss the sight, you watching for a bite
Did you have a family I'll never know
No grave no flowers just a few will mourn
Count me one to ponder each time I pass

Reflections and/or Street Photos/Candid Captures:   Another "men's restroom" photo, this one was taken at our doctor's office building.  It is totally touch free, no pun intended.  All is operated by the nearness of a human.  Got to touch the water and the towels though to get washed of.  Haha.

From left to right:
    The urinal flushes when the fellow moves away;
    (not pictured to the left, so does the sitting place);
    The soap dispenser operates when the hand is near;
    The water faucet squirts when body is close;
    Another soap dispenser for the other sink;
    The towel dispenser when the hand is near; and finally,
    The door opens when a hand is waved near this trigger.

Not mentioned is the selfie of me in the left side of the mirror Reflection.  The photo is tilted, sorry but to straighten it the door activator gets cut off.  I only took this one picture.

Without a doubt I'm giving this Rest Room a grade of five plus (5+).  You can see my other Rest Rooms Ratings, by clicking here. (Not real good, I must get busy and do some others.   Promise,)
