~~ Friday’s Hunt v.4.14 -- "N" is for ...
Friday's Hunt for the week of October 6th:
(1) Starts with "N"; (2) Silhouette; and (3) Sky

The barn here early on was used for the draft horses that Dad used to farm with, pulling plows and other farm equipment, and wagons. The horses were housed on the near side to us, West.
About two/thirds of the other half (East) was stations for the milking cows to eat in while we milked them. The remaining with the small door on the southeast corner was used for the small calves. It was in there that we taught them to drink from a bucket.

(2) Silhouette: My winter tree is silhouetted against the sky, hovering over the ducks swimming in the Potomac.

It rained later that day
I love to be flying high in the sky, above the clouds. A pretty sunset over the clouds.
Texas skies with clouds lend themselves to prettiest sunsets in the U.S.
The type of clouds determine the sunset. These wispy clouds 'just floated'.

Finally, Texas usually brags of the bluest sky. This may be true, the sky is sooo regal looking with the Texas Blue. My camera doesn't do justice to blue skies.

Where's the Texas Sky Pollution? (sneaking Baby KP in) -- Looking At the Sky
First we need a little commercial to promote the latest of our Jim's Bunch.
You can tell Baby KP is a bona fide member of Jim's family because she is already taking charge of the remote.
We think this is a real cute picture because we haven't had too many where she isn't sleeping.
So far her eyes are brown but they could turn green like her Grandpa Jim's (mine).
Now back to Looking at the Sky:
This is a nice looking sky with just one little Oklahoma cloud. I don't know what it is doing in Texas but definitely it is too small to be from Texas. Everything is big in Texas. (Those very small cloud friends are visiting from Louisiana.)
Don't complain about the quality, I took it through the windshield while on the move. I had to put down my cell phone right in the middle of a text message I was making to get the picture.
It wouldn't have looked so good had I not taken using the telephoto setting.

Here you can see the visual pollution of the many signs we have to put up with on our way to town. I hope they are helping the merchants who put them up. For sure the sign companies are staying in business.

Texas Sky Pollution -- Looking At the Sky
City folk don't stand much of a chance to see the pretty blue sky and lovely varied assortment of clouds we have to look at. Oh, we can see them but often times more predominant in our line of sight is a visual blight. I call this 'sky pollution.' Some call it 'visual pollution.' [click on each picture for large size]
These pretty clouds are found in Willis, Texas, at the intersection of FM 1097 and Interstate Highway 45. We are north of the Houston P.O. about forty miles.
On that corner, with their corresponding signs gouging our visual appreciation of the sky, are a Shell gas station (with Taco Bell), a Texaco gas station (not shown--with a fast food chicken place), and this Jack-in-the-Box from last week.
You might ask what is on the other corner? Have a peek below:
I don't know how long this United States Flag on the commercial lot will last. It is prime property and is for sale.
There are two types of drivers that I don't like to follow. Thank goodness this one is turning off. His diesel puts out huge clouds of black smoke which I could never catch with the camera. I do believe that is worse than the smells coming from the outhouse he was moving.
And this one? You could advertise your own business interest on this large Texas sized commercial sign. There are others along the road from our subdivision over to I-45 but you would be bored. I will keep you posted if anything interesting shows up.
The other type driver to avoid following? A person driving a Lincoln Town Car. They are terribly slow and very unpredictable with their maneuvers.
And I suppose we must give Rachel an exception, I know she drives her big Town Car carefully. She does speed a little. ('Speeding Along' link) (her entire blog)

Midweek Blues -- Looking At the Sky
Taken from the 27th floor of the St. Luke's Tower building in Houston.I had a nuclear stress test and a peripheral vascular scan (ultrasound) test and was waiting for the bad news from my cardiologist. It was nice they put windows in those little visiting areas, the ones with the little lay down table put there you can be poked and kneaded by the doc.
News wasn't real good, I will go in St. Lukes Hospital tomorrow for a heart catheterization again. I am prepared for a new stent or two and possibly a roto-rooter procedure in a few tight spots or to clean out a plugged up stent.
If nothing is done to me, I will go home tomorrow evening. If a stent and/or roto-rooter comes my way I will spend the night. I'm bringing my PJ's.
This pretty blue sky picture is what was over my house yesterday. Adi and I went for a little walk and each of us was really impressed with how great things were looking.

In case you were wondering what Adi was doing, don't worry. She and I had gone for another walk earlier in the morning.
Here she is looking back to see how far we've come.
I've been working on Income Tax the last couple of days. Still have more to do, I did Mom and Dad's final trust returns stuff. Sister Lois is down and will be back up her Monday. She is busy enjoying her grandchildren right now for a week.
Have a Valentines Day party with Mrs. Jim's Sunday school class tomorrow night. They are having a banquet dinner. Guess I'll have to dress up.
Saturday night a bunch of us couples are playing dominos at a couple's home up the street from here. The game's formal name is forty-two. This game is played with double six dominoes, it is very common in Texas.

Oh yes, we will eat too. I think pretty good since it is a Holiday (Valentines Day).
