Happy Saint Patrick's Day!! A four-leaf clover for you
In the year 2007 I actually did find a four-leaf clover.
It was in Ireland of all places!
The following is a part from one my annual St. Patrick's day posts (link):
I picked this clump of clovers beside the sidewalk leading to downtown Killarney, Ireland.
There was only one with four leaves. You will have to find it, I did not pick it. Isn't picking four-leaf clovers bad luck? Later in Scotland I was able to find another four-leafed one.
Our nice B&B in Killarney. This one was on a hill with a wonderful view from our front bedroom window. (link to Muckross Drive House) [large picture] [super size]
Here is the one I found in Scotland. It was on the grounds at the Drummond Castle and Gardens (link).

This picture is not clear although it may show you the four leaves more distinctly.

Famous Grouse Experience -- Ruby (Red) Tuesday -- A distillery tour

The Famous Grouse Experience is a nice tour of the Scotland’s oldest distillery, Glenturret. This is a short drive from our B&B in Crieff, which is outside of Glasgow a bit. Some of the Famous Grouse Scotch Whiskeys are made there. Most of the effort is in one ingredient, the Glenturret single malt. (link)
We were there in the Fall of 2007 after my knee had fairly well recovered. I had fallen in Ireland earlier in the Spring and broke my kneecap. So we had to come home then. (link) Now we got to see Scotland after all.
There was a nice little snack shop where we purchased some pastry and had a sample sandwich. That made a nice tide-me-over till supper time.
The sign said garden. This is it, not a garden to tramp around in but instead a nice water garden to watch from their nice foot bridge.
When we got back to Crieff we were very ready for a nice fish 'n' chips plate with mushy peas. After supper Mrs. Jim had some sticky taffy pudding. The whole meal was sumptuous. We would eat in that little cafe quite often.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

I thought too, I'd skip right over the Ides of March on the 15th. On this date in 44 BC, Julius Caesar was assassinated. That day always scares me. Why, I don't know.
I picked this clump of clovers beside the sidewalk leading to downtown Killarney, Ireland.

He will call upon me, and I will answer him

14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
.....I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
.....I will be with him in trouble,
.....I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him
.....and show him my salvation."

Drummond Castle and Gardens -- Scotland Holiday # 002
These lovely gardens were just below the castle and gate house. There were flowers, shrubbery, vegetable gardens, and various garden statues.
The castle is the structure on the right. On the left you are seeing the gatehouse, stables, and servant quarters. The day was warm and I was breathing hard going back up.
The castle was built in 1491 for the Drummond family. It is now a private residence of a Drumond family descendant. I haven't seen this move, but “Rob Roy, legends of the mist” was filmed using the castle as the residence.
See the castle Web site for more information and their pictures (link)..
.
Mrs. Jim and Karen posed briefly by this garden statue of Adonis. That helped give some size perspective to my picture. (Adonis Wikipedia link)
.
This walkway outside the green houses provided a friend for Karen.
.
The cat was very friendly. After all this attention it tagged around with us for quite a while. It paid off good for her (the cat), she got more petting.
.
We weren't allowed to pick fruit, the apples looked really good. I know, these are tomatoes. Take a peek at what they are growing in. I guess if we could get that many tomatoes I could spring for sack of this stuff.
.
It looks like more than one plant can be planted in these things. I think they would be real good for a balcony garden. Maybe I could surprise Mrs. Jim with a garden somewhere.
I forgot, I do have my lemon tree (link)(link to that whole blog).
We all made it up the terrace. No, I didn't fall this time either. This castle is not open to the public, only the gardens.
As I said earlier, it is ALL a private residence, owned and occupied by a Drumond family descendant. Some Scotish castles are open to the public. Most do not allow inside pictures.
I just knew you wanted to see this work car up real close. I did.
If you got down to here you might note that this material and pictures were in the main placed on my PHOTO PLACE blog earlier.
.
I intend to keep the Scotland travel material on this blog from now on except for a single or double picture post now and then.
I'll try Tuesdays for a while on these.

Eh? What did you say? Huh?
This one I like! Do you wonder why?
This next one isn't bad either.
A senior citizen said to his eighty-year old buddy:
"So I hear you're getting married?"
"Yep!"
"Do I know her?"
"Nope!"
"This woman, is she good looking?"
"Not really."
"Is she a good cook?"
"Naw, she can't cook too well."
"Does she have lots of money?"
"Nope! Poor as a church mouse."
"Well, then, is she good at making love?"
"I don't know."
"Why in the world do you want to marry her then?"
"Because she can still drive!"

My very own Peter Max
Well, this is it, not the airplane, but my photo. This Continental plane was parked at the Houston airport when we taxied in from our Scotland trip.
Continental Airlines commisioned Peter to paint the plane for the NYC2000. The painted plane was a part of to help New York City celebrate the coming of the year 2000. It took 8 days by 2 teams of 16 people equipped with paint guns and required 320 gallons of paint. All this time, Peter Max was very active painting and supervising the project. [Link to AirinesGate for more details]
Perhaps you have seen it. I would be very jealous if you have flown on it.
So far I haven't seen fit to spend my hard earned $$$$$ on a Peter Max. Prints start in the low $100's, prices go way upwards to originals in the $1000's, a few might be in the $10,000's.
I first met his work on a cruise throught the Panama Canal (from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angels). Later, at the Texas Heart Institute Museum where I was attending a seminar on aneurysm repair, given by my cardiologist, Dr. Zvonimir Krajcer, M.D., F.A.C.C. and Dr. Cooley, I ran across another work of his.
Peter donated his original Angel With Heart [2000] (painting or print, I'm not sure now) to the Institute. My first stent, to repair my abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) with a stent graft, was done there in April, 2001, by Dr. Krajcer.

'Angel with Heart is a magnificent expressionistic image that conveys the higher ideals of spirit and compassion embodied in a colorful angelic figure. The angel, as an icon, has appeared frequently in Peter Max's work, from his early "Cosmic" period to his "Neo-Expression" period, of which this very special poster is a prime example.' This explanation of poster is from the Peter Max site, http://www.petermax.com/.
So of course, my favorite would be a rather more expensive one. This Angel With Heart print is very similar to the painting he donated, it may be a poster of that same one. And it sells for $960.00. I like it especially because it is signed and dedicated and has a drawing attached (at the bottom).
I think my kids will spring for that for my next birthday or two. After all they are paying for my cable TV when I decided to get it.
Nice kids, huh? Until then, I'll live with my own photo, pictures from the Internet, and numerous post cards that I send myself (see below).

Progress Report: (see photo below)
The table and chair (there are four) were Mom and Dad's, a present from Grandpa when they were married. I have no idea if they were new or used then. My bet is used because every one of us was real poor in those depression years.

"I'm Back!" Home, from the UK -- Scotland Holiday # 001

[Click any picture for full screen, click "super large" for very large size picture.]
"super large"
We had a really good time. The first four nights were spent at a nice B&B in Crieff, Scotland.
"super large"
From there we toured the central parts, including Edinburgh and Inverness. Our car was a VW Passat SUV, left hand side of the road equiped. Would you believe they use miles and miles per hour over there? We put 1018 miles on that little car, and not even one scratch..
"super large"
No, we didn't see Nessy.
After that we spent five nights at the Westin Turnberry at Turnberry, Scotland. There we toured some more, the first three days we golfed at all three Turnberry courses. The British Open will be held here in 2009 [link].
In case you didn't get your card yet, perhaps "it's in the mail." [Alloway, Scotland, post office across from the Robert Burns (poet)Childhood Home Museum]
Soon I will get organized about all my postings. Then I will let you know, for now, please just keep on checking in on me. Thanks!
Too, I have my Wordless Wednesday picture over at JIM'S LITTLE PHOTO PLACE (link).
My next post should be Friday. Bye.
